Does anyone know what this coin/medallion is?

JeffH

The inscription is something like "sign fate good" so maybe a good luck charm. It's Latin.
The description in this link is, translated from Danish, "1 gold medal. SIGNUM-FATI- ET- FORTUNAE. Value (or validity) .900. Weight approx. 3.5 grams". 90% gold?

I do like interesting stories associated with coins. This might be a story to top the lot. Hopefully more will come to light later.

I would have said Mason's as a guess but I'm not seeing The All Seeing Eye and the symbols around the back are Zodiac and I don't think the Masons do the zodiac. Nice looking token either way. It would be great if it turned out to be gold.

Great Captain Every story Jeff. I wonder where they buried their loot. Way too much to spend.

An affordable mule

You have all heard of the 2000, $1/10ยข mule. If you don't already have one you probably want one.
They sell for upwards of $600 depending on condition and how well centered the obverse is.

Well here is an interesting mule you can pick up for about a tenth of the price. And generally in very high grade.
About 100,000 minted and the authorities managed to recover around 60,000 from circulation. So plenty of them around but small enough number they will probably appreciate in value in years to come.

That is one The purple Penny sold. They don't have any available at the moment but often do. Usually some on eBay and TradeMe.
