First post from a very new member.
I am in my eighties and have recently developed an interest in coins after a lifetime of just spending them.
I have a 1936 Penny which has four areas around the edge which appear to have been damaged (photo of one area attached). I hope I have done this correctly.
I would appreciate advice or suggestions as to how this damage to the coin might have occurred e.g. during minting or after minting damage.
As can be seen this coin is rather dirty. Should the coin be cleaned and if so what is the best method to clean it.

Thank you for any assistance and advice anyone can give.

Mister T

Welcome.

Looks like the coin has been scraped unfortunately so not damaged during production.
No easy way to get rid of the green but on such a coin it is probably not worth it.
