I have just downloaded a document that give all the prefixes to decimal note.

On the bottom of the downloaded page is a list of notes that are deemed "TEST NOTES".

Note being into notes, unless they are AA's, I went through all the $100.00 notes I have and came across the following:

AU 96 763541
AX 96 714888
AZ 96 965529
CN 96 833889

I would grade the above notes as being Fine at the best as they have been in circulation and many creases but no tears.

Can someone please confirm if the above notes are indeed Test Notes.

TIA.

Further, as a result of my searching, it looks like I have found three x last prefix notes:   2 x 2013 and 1 x 2011.

Based on those serials they are all test notes. The $100 test notes go from AN to AZ, BN to BZ and CN to CS if I recall correctly. What they were testing was different dyes and substrates, with no obvious difference in the test notes to the standard polymer notes. There are also test notes in the $5 range in the following year.

any test note will have a second letter of N or greater

Thanks for your responses.

I just wanted to ensure that I had read and understood the sheet that I downloaded yesterday.

Now to search some more notes that I tucked away.

Would test notes that have been well circulated and appear to be around FINE, would they still demand a premium?

Hm, hard to say - see if any have sold on ebay lately? I don't think they're terribly uncommon, unlike the $5 test notes.

Three years ago I'd sold a few ..... some of them pretty nice actually and a great last prefix. You could get $125 each back then for a nice one, but the last few that I tried (in the past year or so) didn't sell and that was at $110. No doubt once they are not current circulation they will probably go nuts, but I can't stash $100 for the wait.
