Back when I first got into the hobby I'd buy world coins by the kilo and look through them.  I've got a bunch of them still that I haven't looked at in years and PPH decided last night to have a fossick through them and create a virtual treasure hunt for herself.  She pulled this one out:

It's a Indian 1889B Rupee with the incuse mintmark.  Krause value is $30.  But like so many coins in Krause you'd do well to do your own research.  Now I am not sure if there's some sort of rare variety of this coin but these links suggest this coin probably shouldn't be in my junk world box:

Ahh the first link helped me out, I was like where was the mint mark?…it’s a tiny b in the top leafy part.
Do a zoom in pic.

I certainly like your picture of the 1889 Indian Silver Rupee that you found in your scrap box.

When I was a keen metal detector operator, I found a 1886 Indian Silver Rupee at Middle Head barracks, in Sydney many years ago and I still have it in my scrap silver bin.   After looking at Nevols Mint Mark ID I had a look for one on my coin and alas, no mint mark.

Once I have mastered the art of posting pictures, I will post scans of my detector find.

It was more than 7 years ago, sorry I do not recall. Might have been off of Richard Welling (yeoldecoinco).  Maybe someone else.  Not much help am I.

I can't even remember what I bought 3 months ago let alone 7 years ago :pilot:

That's one beautiful coin, Markn.
I would like to try and find treasure a different way.
Grab a metal detector and hit the coast up near where Trout lives
and see if I can find any coins from the old Dutch ship wrecks.

Yes, that would be awesome.  I always get envious when reading US metal detecting forums and they are finding 200 year old coins.  I can't even imagine the buzz people in Europe get when they find 2000 year old coins!
