Qantas Centenary Coins

Can someone advise me please of the release date for the Qantas Alum-Br $1 coin as it is the only one I am missing at present.

Hi Goldie,

I assume you mean the circulating one - the announcement of the proposed issue was back in November last year and the coins were released in early February 2020.

I have a sealed bag of 10 coins secured by a fellow from this forum but I am not keen in opening the bag.

I have tried all over the place to secure two loose coins to no avail.

I shall have to wait till the RAM do a pop up tent and another swap sometime in the future.

I have serious doubts about the "official" figures on these. RAM's site says only 600,000 minted but I have gotten 20 in the past week all in barely or nearly uncirculated condition.
I wouldn't have seen 20 of the 2014 MoRs in the entire time of their release and there was over a million of those and I saw ZERO of the changeover dollar and there was supposedly only 40,000 less of those.
Surely they can't be all here in Brisbane?

There can be some funny distributions of coins gweidion so that they can clump in various places despite low mintages.

However, there do seem to be a few Qantas coins consistently on Ebay, so maybe there is some reason to question the numbers.

If there is anyone reading this from Perth WA, I am after some Anniversary Coins of QANTAS.

Another website that I am a member of states that there are plenty of these coins in Perth.

Hi Goldie, I have never seen one in circulation in Perth, but I'll keep my eyes open.
The Facebook forums I am on all seem to mention finding them in Queensland.

I'll dig out some 2x2s and send you a couple if you like. I've put a few away in capsules planning on hocking them off in the future if the official numbers are correct.
Seems like quite a few available on eBag though and the prices aren't high.
One I just looked at was 2 for $5 and $3 postage. There is probably cheaper.
