On another forum, someone has posted a picture/scan of a 2020 $2 Alum-Br coin with a multi coloured ring surrounding a cricketer who appears to have blocked a ball.

It is a coin that celebrates the Women's T20 World Cup.

Not sure if it is going to be issued through Woolworths or general circulation.

Another coin to keep ones eye open for.

Does anyone know the official release date and how they are going to be circulated?

According to the coin determinations on the Federal Register this particular coin is listed in the ''non-circulating coin'' section. This usually means (or has meant) that the coin(s) are put into circulation via a ''partner'' like Woolworth or Australia Post.

I asked the RAM about this coin on Facebook.
Here is the reply...

"Royal Australian Mint Hi Stephen, unfortunately information regarding this coin is currently under embargo. We look forward to telling you all about it soon so stay tuned to our website and social media channels for more information in the near future. Thank you."

Again somewhere in this great country of ours, the embargo on this coin has again been broken.

I wish the authorities would take action to stop this embargo breaking.

I am really getting sick of it.

Why have an embargo on coins anyway?

Waste of time.

I agree what is the big deal on keeping an embargo on coins? The Royal Mint announce their releases for the whole year in advance. Euro Commemorative coins are announced months and sometimes years before they are released. The USA Mints also tell everyone what is going to be released in the future quite a fair bit in advance. So why is the RAM trying to be like some kind of Quasi Secret Service of some kind? It is laughable.
Australian Decimal, UK Decimal, USA & Euro Coins are what I collect.

:agreed:

I think the RAM should be dragged into the present kicking & screaming.

Mister T

I wonder if there will be swaps for them? Surely not tomorrow anyway.

They are thru Woolworths so no swaps.
