Has anyone heard if Greg is releasing a 24th addition of his book?
It is a great book and would hate to see it not continue.

Mister T

Yeah haven't heard anything - I felt like something was missing but couldn't quite put my finger on it.

Goldseeker

Greg has been rather quiet for some time on this forum.

He has been quite sick the past 12 months and has suffered many computer mishaps.

Maybe, it is an end of an era.

It has been bi-yearly in the last few years anyway - 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
I guess we can expect a new one next year.

Greg McDonald

Hi Team,

Sorry about the delay in mentioning my 24th edition.  Working on it right now.  I was holding back to try and give everyone a more accurate release date. Wish I could say the delay is due to too much golf or an extra long cruise.  No such luck.  I'm in the midst of a complete revamping of many of the pages and this is incredibly time consuming.  The reason being the incredible amount of new issues from both mints since the last book. Many of the special interest releases, with or without privy, counter or mint marks is becoming more and more complex. Unfortunately I just cannot keep adding pages as I really need to keep the book under 500 gms to help keep it a viable product for resellers. For some strange reason AP's postage scale sees the price from 500gms to 501gms almost quadruple. If anyone would like to help by sending me their spreadsheet of the latest issues, I'd be very grateful.
If time permits I'd like to start adding die varieties [especially for the pre-decimal coins]. Luckily for me, Fred Lever has been very generous and offered me full scope of his publications and vast knowledge.  Very humbling to have people with Fred's expertise so willing to help spread the word.

Cheers for now

Greg

Nice to hear from you Greg.

All one can do is wait and trust that your efforts are and will be appreciated.

Thanks for that Goldseeker.  I have already had two personal messages with offers for help.  I've got a lot of work ahead of me as you said.  Just looked at your travel plans.  Don't suppose you want to swap places? My one and only cruise was on the Queen Victoria from Sydney to Fremantle in 2010. I've been around the world five times [coin show days] but never a cruise.  Only did it as I figured I could get off at Melbourne or Adelaide and fly home if I didn't enjoy it. Must say it was the best holiday rest I've ever had and I go again in a heart beat.  I can be very critical if I don't get the standard of hotel room I have asked and paid for but I must say there was absolutely nothing I could fault. Unbelievable value for money.  The Ghan sounds good but I think the QV is better value [personal thought].  I'd be interested in your comments about the Sun Princess.  This is obviously off topic so maybe an answer in the chat forum might be more appropriate.  I'll be thinking of you sunning yourself while I crouch over the computer.  Enjoy!!

If you have nothing else to do?

SBS Viceland will be repeating all 17hours of the GHANS journey on Saturday the 26th of Jan it's just like being on the train.

Enjoy.

Goldseeker

If will be another 12 months before I will be able to comment on the Sun Princess.   I can supply a comment on both the Sea princess and dawn Princess, (now Pacific Explorer).

The latter two are good ships but in places are showing there age.

All three ships carry a max of 1950 passengers and in my opinion are just about the right size.
