The 28th Edition Renniks book is due out in Decemember.

I am doing $7.00 off the cost of the book plus shipping. Use coupon code "Renniks" when ordering.

Thanks for letting me know, Jeff. I'm planning to update all my Renniks books at the end of the year, by replacing the 26th edition of the values book with the 28th, and the 2nd edition of the varieties book with the 3rd. Do you sell the varieties book there, and if not, are you able to order it in for me? I know I could buy it from Downies, but I'd like to save on postage. ;)

Hi mate. Yes I can get it in. I can get in anything renniks stocks. I have a box or three come every 3 to 4 weeks.

Sorry to be seemingly negative about this, but Renniks have been part of the problem with regards to pre decimal varieties for decades now. Whilst being the preferred source of information for some of the TPG's, they simply don't show a proper respect to Australia's pre decimal major varieties, to the point where these often scarce to rare coins have been buried among the endless lists of die cracks and cuds in their listings. Thankfully, the third party coin grading service PCGS has been able to untangle this mess, and include these true Australian rarities in their listings.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

I would not blame renniks entirely here. The problem is the authors (or editors) of these books. Renniks you will find are simply the publishers.

When you read CAB or the renniks varieties books the authors often confuse things by grouping varieties and errors together. The fact is an error is and error and a variety is a variety and the 2 should never meet. I hate it when an author head a topic "the varieties in a 19whatever penny" and puts up 2 pictures of die pairings the 100 pictures of die cracks and cuds, when the only pictures relevant to the heading are the 2 pictures of die pairings.

If these authors think they have the expertise to publish something at the very least they should get the terminology correct as this confuses the hell out of everyone.

Personally I think the renniks varieties book should be stripped right back and remove variety listings that include die cracks, cuds, filled dies and only include die pairings and die varieties such as wide dates etc that are characteristics of a particular die (as opposed to those shown by a die failure or other error).

Secondly out of a variety book I would like to see a price tag attached to varying grades of a variety.

Lastly I would like to see pictures of each variety ( if you can't picture it does it really exist the devils advocate said)
