Taking advantage of a lack of enthusiasm and therefore competition for pre decimals (IMO) to complete my shilling collection, only 5 to go. Bought from a seller on facebook with dodgy photos, I was the only reply. I took his word as a/unc but I think might be ms63ish or am I being overoptimistic. Feel free to give an opinion either way as I'm still learning.

Thanks P.G.

Hey P.Gee

I can't see any obvious wear on those images, If there is No wear then MS63 ish.
Nice die crack from the rim to the right hand star as well :good:

nah
haven't sold any coins on the facebook page for say more than 6 months or more
? maybe last year
and then only daggy pennies that fetched a couple of dollars - have sold some errors there though and they did Ok but not as well as the more 'prominent' sellers there get, i guess it pays to be known and have followers who 'compete' for the said coin in the listing

i notice dave even struggles to get a few dollars for his coins but he is establishing followers and they compete against eachother

Thanks everyone for your help, I think I'm starting to get the hang of this grading thing. I've been looking at a lot of graded coins on line as Ausproofs suggested. PCGS has links to Heritage auctions site which seems to show a more realistic photo of the coin than the PCGS photo, a more warts and all. I've been amazed at some of the marks, dings and scratches on some ms64,65,66 coins, especially the KGVI and later. The seller of this coin thought there was minor wear but I think its a week strike. Bluesheet says the 1946p is often weekly struck, I hope thats the case.

Thanks again
P.G.
