Yeah, though it gives me a teaser to get the kids interested in my annual family trip to the Canberra mint.

Yeah, I'm not enjoying the constant drip feed releases or strange coins, inconsequential coins.

It has to be expected though I guess. From page 6 of the RAMint 2013/14 annual report:

"The past twelve months have been a period in which the Mint has experienced both a decline in demand for circulating coin in Australia and a reduction in demand from both the international and domestic market for numismatic and custom minted product.
The decline in demand for circulating coin further intensified the Mint's program of capacity utilisation by targeting pro table international opportunities."

The whole thing reads with a poor outlook, and such money spinning ideas seem to be the way forward.
There\'s no such thing as too much Borobi!

RAM has "Pissed" off their collector base to the point that they are feeling it in their sales with the garbage that they are "Pushing" with the expectation that their collector base will add every one of their ridicules offerings to their collections.

RAMint knows that if they get a young person into coin collecting, they'll make a lot more money over the long term than if they get an older person into it. Think about it - when you're lying in your coffin, the people who bought this coin will still be making the mint a handsome profit. :winkextra:

HMMMM, let me think here
Most young people have little or No disposable income due to the majority of them being either still at school or they are bringing up a young family, Both of which are a huge drain on the finances.
Maybe when they are in their late 40's they May have some disposable income :ok:
With the Older mob of "Gravebaiters" like myself 55+ and many others that DO have the disposable income AND the time to indulge in coin collecting, I imagine that we would make up quite a large percentage of RAM's "Demographics".
To disenfranchise the "Gravebaiters" is a Stupid move by RAM But they continue to do this with their insignificant and irrelevant coin issues that tend to put many of us older collectors Off and we simply don't bother with the newer RAM issues anymore.

I bet the grand kids would prefer this coin over a Canberra florin for their birthday. It's for you to buy it for them.
