Sold a coin a while back and the buyer took over 2 weeks with pressure from ebay before he paid and then gave me negative feedback saying coin badly scratched , it was a proof silver coin in capsule in mint condition . As i have only sold a few coins on ebay it does not look good so what can i do to fix this

Next time you have a problem with a non paying bidder just cancel the sale and state that the reason for doing so is that the buyer didn't pay :ok:

How long is a reasonable time to wait for payment? The longest I've had to wait is a couple of days.

Is there any point messaging the buyer or is it better to leave it up to Ebay?

I got into several running battles in the early days of Ebay, mainly sellers either not posting items or posting a different Coin/Note/Stamp to the one in the listing.
In those days sellers could leave negative FB so i had to open another Acct. and start again with lessons learnt.
Although the stuff i sell is mainly for Friends/Family if the buyer has any sort of complaints i just refund and ask them to return registered which i pay for.
This has worked for the last 14 years with 100% FB on both my Accts.

I would open a new Act. and block any buyers you sense are shifty.

Do you wait until it is returned before refunding? I have found that the offer of return and refund often decides the buyer to keep it anyway (or never any further contact). I take that as a sign of a 'try on' and immediately stick that buyer on the blocked bidders list. If they do want to bid later they can always ask and you have the option to remove them from the list.
Dodgy sellers are around but so are dodgy buyers.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Good idea Basil , he has not asked for a refund which is strange if the coin was "All scratched up" as his feedback claims you think he would have by now , which is also a worry because what if he scratches it himself and then wants to send it back . Have blocked this person from future sales . Just confirms what i have always known and that is there's people out there a whole lot crazier than me . Thks for the tips guys :thank_you:

I'm super careful with listings, plenty of photos & honest detailed description, many Ebay(>) sellers have  lazy/careless descriptions and poor photos.
I haven't had a return for a couple of years,i just say send it back registered and give me the No. and i'll refund purchase costs plus return post and registration.
It costs a bit more but it saves dramas in the long run,do everything thru Ebay messages, not the PayPal Email address, so there is a paper trail if they hit you with negative FB,if they do ask Ebay to remove it.
