Awsome.:wavemulticolor:
looks like I mistook a weak strike for wear.......AGAIN :dash1:
I cant see why PCGS would grade it at 63 instead of 64.
Nowhere near enough chatter or dings on the coin. :ok:

The weak strike on this coin is very deceptive
It\'s not about who you know it\'s about what you know

ausproofs

Hopefully thats what it is.. a weak strike... will keep you posted as what happens with the coin...

Are you sending it in the slab or cracking it out?

More newbie questions. If pcgs grades this coin a grade lower, how is the value effected? Are Pcgs coins of the same grade as ngc worth more? How much do the small marks on the rim at 12 o'clock on the obverse effect the grade?
Thanks P.G.

The value won't be affected

The value won't be affected

If the shilling gets the same grade at PCGS then the value will be affected. Look at the Benchmark coins that doubled in price when sold at the same grade.

Yes agree. If I sell this coin as is I would most probably get the PCGS MS63 value in Australian market.

I would leave it in its original NGC holder, If PCGS doesn't recognise the soft strike an grades this as AU you will feel pretty foolish.
You are better off sending it as a crossover and set a minimum grade.
At least that way you have some control :ok:

Yes, not a bad idea. However every time I did that, grade comes one level below etc.. not sure if there is a link, but for what I paid, MS63 is not too bad... however if this gets bodybagged, then thats an issue..

Did you get better grades if the coins were removed from the NGC slabs first ?

If it was mine I would definately take it out of the holder.
NGC generally take strike into account and downgrade for any weakness.
So they might have downgraded this one.
PCGS dont care about strike up to and including 65.
