Not only does it help get the kids interested it also allows mum and dad have have a wander around without the little darlings going "I'm bored, can we go home". It's great that he's had the initiative to do something like this, well done Andrew :good:

There was, yeah. But as I was leaving about half an hour before stumps, I noticed it had been raised to about 70!

Maybe they figured a table of oldies was better than an empty table. :)

I recon the oldies were just "Skiting" that they could still actually see the date on the little blighters :):laugh2:
The 5c noodling table is a great new incentive and I imagine that the kids that gave it a go would be keen to do it again and want to attend the show next year it comes around :good:

Thanks for your comment markn.

Judging by that remark I might have done well.   I have also requested a letter of authenticity from the seller that includes a copy of the sales card within the letter minus the price.

At least I hope so.

Now for the coin that surrounded it.

All I need the coin that the above was punched out of but starting at around $160K to over $600K, a wee bit over my budget.

i am itching to know Goldie
if the price was based on last years maccas or the year before?
there seems to be HUGE differences between the two catalouges!!

"But on a serious note mate and to all the other collectors as well, have you told your family about some of the stuff you have and how valuable it is and NOT to just give it away or sell cheap as it seems to be a problem when something happens to the collector and the family just think it's not worth much. I have told mum that the stuff in slabs etc are worth a little so don't give them away but a lot of the stuff I have in bags like rabbit ears and different errors etc can be sold cheap or put back into the pond as she probably wouldn't need the stress of getting rid of them and when my nieces and nephew are old enough I will be telling them but for now they just get told to "STAY AWAY" from uncle Jack's coins :blush2:"

You are right on the button with that bit of advice.   I have tried to ell my kids I need to talk to them about what I have but the daughter gets stroppy at me at the thought of mum and I falling off the perch.

I will keep trying and your statement above has not fallen on deaf ears.

do you remember that Aussie pre-decimal errors and everything collector who died?
was his name Peter Wall - he died without direct inheritors for his estate

the big thing that came out of the distribution and sale of his estate/collection was that he did not have the collection cataloged and therefore, few knew just what he had and what it was worth, particularly the auction house that sold off his collection

a lot of people made a lot of money from buying at the auctions that were held to distribute his estate

CAB had an editorial about it

I would say the easy fix is just leave it all to me, but I'll fall off the perch long before you, I'm afraid. :(

Imagine what you might find if you open some of the 1966 20 cent rolls you've had put away from when they were released :mocking: sorry I can't help it

I want a pic or it didn't happen :winkextra:

:dodgy: I'm still waiting for my pic :mocking:

That's a nice venue. A lot better than Sydney Town Hall.

Goldseeker

Yes it certainly is but I think Caulfield Race track is even better.

Much more space and plenty of parking immediately opposite the venue.   %0 metre walk instead of trying to find a parking spot on the open roads.

Meh. Come to our MNS coin show in Mitcham in October. Its next to the station, in a dead end street with a massive carpark, and its a lovely venue as well. About half the size of the ANDA expo I reckon. AND its for a good cause!

Oh, and bring the clockface.. it really needs to be on show. :)
