Why not? You have an equal chance to the rest of us of tripping over bundles at your local banks.

Just try to avoid ones with machines, because they actively try to avoid new notes, as they misfeed a lot.

Got the email from RBA saying that the notes will be available in folders from the Post Office. Two formats - a single note and an old polymer and new polymer together in a folder.
Does anyone know how to get hold of first prefixes?

If they had any sense, they would make the packs Last & First prefixes. Matched numbers would be nice too.. they've done that before.

To coincide with the issuance of the next generation of Australian banknotes, the Reserve Bank of Australia will offer two commemorative products to the public:
 
• a 'Next Generation of $5' commemorative folder containing one new $5 banknote at a recommended retail price (RRP) of $10.95; and
• a 'Two Generations of $5' commemorative folder containing one first polymer $5 banknote and one new $5 banknote at a recommended retail price (RRP) of $19.50.
 
Both folders contain standard uncirculated banknotes only. The commemorative products will be available for purchase at Australia Post outlets.

it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for these notes to filter into banks in Tassie...We usually take a while to get current year circulation coins, so I wonder if it'll be the same for notes.

Just how DOES our money get to Tassie anyway?

I'm guessing unmarked semis on the Spirit of Tasmania on an irregular basis. Does anyone actually know though? And if that's the case, does fresh currency turn up everywhere simultaneously?

And what about the Woolies coins? Were they in the stores at the same time as here? With a couple hundred sacks per week, I can't see them travelling by air... :dodgy:

Well they haven't filtered into the bank here. Staff didn't seem to know what I was on about when I asked.

I lined up at RBA at Martin Place this morning some 40-45 minutes before they opened the counters.  I was 6-7th in the queue. By the time they opened there were some 100 people behind me. Recognized a few banknote dealers there.

Unfortunately I didn't get any first prefixes. Thinking of going back again to try my luck.

Spoke to the RBA briefly this morning and they confirmed it is pot luck with first & last prefixes, they no longer have arrangements to specifically sell first & last prefixes to collectors. First prefix is apparently AA but no information on the last prefix as yet.
