crappy new notes

anyone else seen anything about our crappy new bank notes that are meant to be released soon and thoughts welcome, I don't like them, really crappy lookin to me, here's a link of what they'll look like apparently :dodgy:

Old news, mate. That was a proposal 3 years ago.

They'll be similar, but with a few changes, including tactile denominations for the blind (though apparently different to the Canadian system).

Yes, sorry AJ, those are old news. They were discussed quite a bit on the forums when the news broke, but I'm thinking they aren't really "plans of new notes", rather just some concept drawings that got leaked to the media. They were always merely possibilities, not plans.

In my humble (tasteless) opinion the designs were %$^@. I'm hoping they were just testing the waters and that the feedback was a resounding "no" to those original designs and that they have tried again (hopefully with more success).

Channel 7 had an item on the news last night about the proposed new $5 note. A group were proposing that a portrait of Fred Hollows be included on the $5.

The feedback from the RBA was similar to that which has done the rounds previously - no great changes to the design but additional security features being added to the new notes.

I like it. The eye testing chart is very practical as well.
OK I can't help but notice that the link in the OP is now 3 years ago. Are we ever going to switch to the new cartoonish designs? Or have they been quietly shelved? :dodgy:
