So it has gone from that to this & I might leave it alone now.

Nicely done Rob. Was some kind of friction required as encouragement, or did the gunk just dissolve and disappear.

Just soaked it for a while & dabbed with a cotton bud.
Quite pleased with result, can still see some (I think varnish) but it's heaps better.
I have just noticed on some of the Shillings I have there is the same stuff, from the early 30's but not in that quantity, it must have been something they were using back then.

Posted in the wrong thread and removed :dash1:

Think you might have meant to put it in the gaming thread :winkextra:

I just picked this one up from eBay.
I have NO idea why the reverse is upside down in the image (I think it is an early PCGS image) but it looks like it has promise of some nice toning.
I have bought a couple of other Canberra's from Chris before with images like this and they are rather nice, I'll see when it gets here :ok:
Anyway what's not to like about an MS64 Canberra anyway :yahoo::)

Chris just sent me the PCGS cert# .
PCGS have come a long way with the images provided with  a "Secure" submission since this one was graded :good:

For those who don't have Facebook, the owner of this coin is looking for offers over $50k:

"1927 Canberra PROOF Florin (1 of 400 minted with maybe 100 existing)
FDC (regarded as Finest Known Example - Belinda Downie)
From the Baldwin Collection UK originally"

Two Bob coin collector.

Very nice But 50k+ is way above my pay grade

yes 25 to 35k but because he got it from downie's and they fed him a heap of crap he thinks it's worth that, and yes Uni you get a set of jousting sticks :mocking: He also put on another post that he'll pay the flight fees if your on the east coast so he knows he's a ripoff  And it looks like he's a pawn dealer. I would have thought he would have got better pic's as they're pretty crappy to say the least and I hope the mark on the obverse under the bust there is on the plastic.

I'm not sure the thread is still there, sometimes they come and go very quickly. I think the owner was testing the waters, $35k would be closer to the mark and even then I doubt you would find a buyer on Fbook.

Here is another eBay pickup from pacificrimcoins.
So far all of Chris's images in his listings have been  rather "Unflattering", It will be interesting to see what this looks like "In Hand" when it arrives :good:
