A recent arrival. Probably paid too much but I love em :yahoo:

A comparison with one of mine which I definitely paid too much for

Plenty of colour there Steve, may be just touched off a little on the obverse but still a good thing to have. Oops, adjustment required, hmmm a bit of an understatement he he, a great thing to have no doubt.

I used to believe the thin date numeral variety was just a result of a weak strike.  Funny how we sometimes just take things for granted without doing a proper check. Was just looking at your coin up close and noticed that the angle of the hooky bit on top of the second 1 roughly aligns with the angle of the upstroke on the 2. If you have a look at the hooky bit on my coin the angle is no where near the same.

This then prompted me to get out a couple of others I have and the difference is quite obvious, there also appears to be a difference between each coin in relation to the height of the foot on the 2. Will probably find further oddities now you've got me looking.  Thanks for that :yahoo:

I do RG. Have had plenty of opportunity to pick the odd one up as well but never did until just recently. When it arrives I'll post a pic.

:i_agree: I reckon that is such a great error coin (not to mention the excellent condition it's in ..... and the great photos).

Lovely coin and fascinating error in my view.! The positioning of the indentation is a real mystery. :scratch_one-s_head:

Cheers guys
It is my best example of the 1921 denticles in 'alf'. I have the denticles in the (half)  'penny' as well. Should dig up a pic. Back to work for now!

There are 3 indentations, not one, the other 2 are very weak. I have one from the exact same die pair (by chance purchased from the same seller as the thin date 1921 if I'm not mistaken).
