Hi there
I don't really know what I'm doing with coins as I keep, save or invest in Australian mint set, silver coin or bullion and gold bullion, when I can.
I'm trying to put slowly together a pre-decimal set that I can hand down to one of my kids in the future.
What I have now is
1937 Crown
1937 Australian Melb Crown Lustrous Obverse Geo VI nUNC $95.00 ( MR Roberts )
1964 Penny
1946 Penny
1953 Half Penny
1932 Florin
1944 Shilling
1933 Shilling
1950 Sixpence
1958 Sixpence
1957 Three Pence
what would be the value of what I have and what should I be on the l;ook out for
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris, Welcome to the forum. Coin value is based on the grade of the coin. For an example your 1932 florin could be valued at $200 (VG)  - $12,000 - 15,000 (UNC) ... depends on what grade it is ... Best thing to do is to do some research. Look at ebay, do a google search, read Macca's book or get a subscription to bluesheet.com.au.

Good luck with your coin collection :wavemulticolor:
Collecting coins is not about having the best, but loving what you have ...

Welcome to the forum esky64, As ausproofs put it condition is key.
Looks like you know why you want to collect. Here is a link that may help? http://www.oldcoinchest.com/blog/australian-coins-basic-introduction-to-collecting

Graded/slabbed (eg. PCGS) pre decimals seem to popular and the higher the grade the greater the value (e.g ms63 - ms66). learn more about gradings here http://www.drakesterling.com/coins-for-sale/more-information/what-is-pcgs

As mentioned do research. Get a catalogue book to find out current prices and look around. Ebay advanced search for sold items or current items. Check what people are asking.

May your coin searches be fun and your gradings true

Also put some pic's up here but please make sure they're nice and clear as it's hard to try and grade off pic's
A wise person knows there is something to learn from everyone.

oh my florin

33 Shilling is rare and should be worth at least $150 in VG while the 46 Penny may be worth a bit post photos and we can provide specific grades and valuations.

If you want to assemble a set try either Eric or Walter Eigner. I would heavily advise buying Third Party Graded coins (PCGS/NGC) if you are starting out.
