Just noodled this one. Not sure what's happened to it, in hand it's got extra metal on the Emu. Any ideas on cause welcome.:angel:

What year is it Nevol? I think some of the 2015's (could be 2014's)have some unusual cud streaks across this area so perhaps your's is a progression of that.

It's 2015. There are some scrapes on it in the area where I used Red & Yellow arrows, but the rest of it is well above the height of the rest of the emu.  If it's a cud, it's a big one.

My thought was that maybe a lump of metal got onto the planchet and was flattened when the coin was struck, but I don't know if this is a likely scenario.

I'm pretty sure I have posted pic's of this effect before Nevol but can't remember what thread but I have quite a few of them and from my poor memory you'll find it on a few years
I think I might have been calling them melts as it looks like it's "molten", gotta be a pun in there for you somewhere Uni :blink:  :friends:

I would have seen them back when AJ posted them, but I had forgotten about them.  My memory is just getting worse all the time. Sorry AJ. :angel:

Has to be a damaged die causing them 'cos they are all so similar.

Nevol, I think your one has the most progression of any I've seen (perhaps it's similar to AJ's #6 pic). I think most of mine show more of a series of lines (like AJ's #11 pic) rather than the 'blob'. It's rather an odd error as there can be some of the cud lines on the field in front of the emu's head too I noticed (like AJ's #3 pic). Perhaps it's to do with chrome lifting off the die?

I'll have to do a sort out of all the different 2015's when I get some time. (I still have to look at Mr T's 2001 thoughts, though I did get a little bit of that done a few weeks ago, so there's some progress). I remember doing my 2014's and it just about did my head in sorting them out. 2014 was a BIG error year for the 50c.

My short term memory is a shocker ..... fixing something up in the shed and think I need to go down to the house and get x, y and z. Then getting back up there with just x. So frustrating, but my meds do that to me.

And do you think I can dig out a melt pun for AJ .... nope, drawing blanks at the moment.

All good peep's as I know what the memory lose is all about and it can be rather frustrating at times to say the least. Go to the fridge to get a drink and forget why i went there..bloody hopeless :dash1: Walk out of seeing a Dr and think either I wanted to ask them something and forgot too or I completely forgot what they've said but not much I can do about it so I feel for anyone that has this problem and you don't have to be old to have it either

I keep all addies and Ph Nos in an Xcel doc, with a shortcut on my screen so I don't have to remember where I put it.  Works great! :whistle2:

I have a little brown book so I can take it with me because when I go away (on the very rare occasion) I don't always have access to the net.
Or if the net is down I'm lost so a book comes in really handy for me.
