the hubby is still very interested in my new 1922 penny set
I offered it to him ... go on - you can add them to your collection
and he was aww naww
then proceeds to reread the instruction sheet for the fourth time ha ha
very complicated business this varieties stuff
there is also a 1933 (?) overseas coin (darn it i have forgotten already) that has a variety and he was going over that to confirm , alas no variety but fun finding out
having the world coin book catalogues is a great help

yes thank-you it has been a great way to spend the afternoon
I am setting the coins up in album pages & labelling as best I can

Hope you're over the bug soon RG, it's never fun as my wife can attest, she's  just getting over a severe case of tonsilitis poor thing.

Glad you and hubby are happy with the 22's. One that isn't there will be the extra wide date without the spike on the tail of the 9. I don't think it's as scarce as a couple of the others, maybe it is, but I only had the one myself. Hubby will most probably have it anyway, he being into these himself.

Oh, another piece of info that just came to mind is there are two different wide dates (not to be confused with EXTRA wide dates) without the spike. Just one of these was included because I only had a single example of the other, but have since found another. If I manage to find one further (trying to make up two sets for the kids) will send it on to you.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I\'ve forgotten the other two!

Rigged :mocking: Just yoking, well done RG :friends:

a few years ago Fred Lever bought a '22's set off the hubby from his ebay shoppee
Fred proceeded to publish an article on them and used his photos as well
the hubby and Fred communicated a bit at the time about these issues
Fred and I used to communicate a bit but my interests were around the 1925 penny and 1946 penny varieties - which reminds me Fred has one of my 1925 pennies that I sent to him years ago!! better chase that up!
I will ask the hubby about that wide date & see if he has any and post piccies for your comments
