I can remember that many years ago, during a pit stop on the Hume Highway at Gundagai, (you know, dog on the tucker box thingy), a couple of old cars came in.   Had to go over and look at them and notices both had heaps of pennies on the dashboard of the same date as the cars.

The headlights on one of the cars had the globes removed and instead, they were hiding speakers for the radio.

Interesting at least.

Tis a pity that I can't post some MP4 videos of the hotrods that turned up at the RAM several years a go.

I went to buy a paper this morning and had to park two blocks away from the papershop. Street was full of old Fords (and other assorted, similar vintage vehicles). Would have been just as easy to have walked up town.
A local drove one of his old Rolls Royces up to get a paper as he usually does on a Sunday. Several of the A models would have had to evacuated to make room for him at the kerb.
Pity i didn't have a camera in the glovebox -usually do but it was still sitting on my desk after yesterday.

Hi Jeff, Fantasic pics.

Got one here that I am very proud off.  Mr son raced Aussie Cars for two years.  Problem was that spending money was a lot faster.

Now working with CFA at Melbourne In promotions and sales with Alfa Romeo.  Had a few minutes with four times world champion Lewis Hamilton.  He went away with a few racing tips and an autograph.  Lewis seemed satisfied!  lol.

Hope this scan works.  Never done this before on the forum  If it doesn't work, I'd appreciate any pointers.  Cheers

Hi Greg,
Easiest way to get a picture in a post is to use the forum gallery. There are a couple of explanatory threads; Using the Gallery on the 'New" Forum and Include Images from the Gallery in Threads.

I am not sure the gallery will handle png files (anyway, being lossless they tend to be too big -maximum allowable size is 1Mb).
I open any such and save them as jpg files. On my monitor they need to be less than 1500 pixels wide to display as full size when inserted into the forum -I usually resize them to 1200px wide (as in this thread above) which gives a decent display size.
If the file size is still too big then jpg files can be compressed at expense of quality. A small amount of compression can substantially reduce file size with virtually no noticeable loss of detail. Depending on what picture software you use that will be shown as a "quality', "compression" or similar option.

I use paint.net which is not too hard to use and offers way more features than I really need.

I would like this one please.
Jaguar E-Type Zero electric sports car
When Harry and Meghan have finished playing with it.
It's actually lighter than the original with better performance.

My son is looking for a new vehicle.

Right front tyre bead unseated itself at 100km/h. Ended up planted into a big tree. A few cuts and bruises -very lucky.

Crikey Jeff!!!!!!!  :swoon:

So glad he's got out of it ok.

Trees can be very unforgiving, what a mess.

Lucky lad! Looks like the bull bar came in very handy.

This is interesting. Electric VW smashes Pikes Peak record
Sort of makes the title of this thread not quite right.

What a beast! Very impressive.

How much would you pay for a Holden Commodore? Not this much I think.
They originally sold for $47,000. That one has never been registered and has done only 1,308km.

Well, if I was ever going to buy a Commodore, then the VL would be the one, but I would buy the one with the 6 cylinder turbo RB30E-T engine, made by Nissan. :)

I had a VL once and it was a lovely car to drive...except for the bad habit of the back end stepping out if you hit a bump in a corner -took Holden's a lot of models to cure that problem.
Replaced it with a VN with the V6. That was a backward step -nowhere near as nice a motor. [They did fix that later when they started using cranks with offset journals to even up the firing.]

P.S. The Nissan RB30T was a special for Holdens only. Steve, add a Nissan Skyline to your list and plan a swap to the turbo motor; that makes a very nice Q-ship that can give a lot of V8s pause for thought.

P.P.S. A trivia question -no prizes though. What does the "RB" stand for in the Nissan RB series of motors?

Bought a bulk lot of second hand driving lights the other day for $60 because two of them were actually Hella headlights to fit my old Hilux -never used, still in original boxes..

Pleasantly surprised to find the headlights came with a pair of Philips "VisionPlus" bulbs -claim 50% more light than standard- to replace the standard ones. Fitted them this afternoon and just did a cruise around the block. Amazing improvement but I will have to adjust them because low beam is now about same height as high beam should be.

Then again a pair of 25 year old OEM sealed beams would not be expected to be too flash. They also had a stick on, plastic front (presumably a stone guard) which would not help.

Now, what do I do with four Narva driving lights and a fog light (that one might end up as a reversing light)?
