Ok for something a little different,
1959 stage one of the opera house commences
1971 Leadbeater's possum is proclaimed the official animal emblem of Victoria
1969 concord makes it's test flight.
That should do to start things off :)

My Concorde first day cover, from when I was an ankle biter.

and on the subject of Possums. I just came back from New Zealand and the possum was introduced there from Australia. There are now more possums than sheep. Estimated possum population in NZ is 70,000,000.

AWESOME Steve, thanks for sharing as there's probably not too many of them getting around and especially in good nick, well done mate :good:

Yes the kiwi's hate our possums and are a real pest so I can't blame them, peeing everywhere and the noise of them sometimes, we get these huge black one up here. I see this doco one where they were burning them and spread the ashes and they also done that with scotch thistle but I don't know how successful it was, obviously not that very if they have that many.

They have metal covers placed around each power pole to stop them from climbing them. They use to get up them and short the power out. Maybe they should let them climb the poles and have a zapper waiting for them near the top. That might shrink the population somewhat.

Melbourne nearly became known as Batmania (as well as a few other names).
Would people from there be called Batmen and Batwomen, or maybe Batmanians?
