Well I'm back and not such a good cruise this time.
First 6 days were OK, but then I came down with a very
bad dose of gastro. Had trouble eating and drinking and
became severely dehydrated. So much so, that I had to be
put on a saline drip. Medical bill was $680. Also missed 3
of my shore tours, including East Timor, where I was hoping
to get lots of coins. Spent 4 days quarantined in my cabin.
Spent a couple more days recovering and came good by the
last day. Spent some time in Singapore, so we got to see some
goods sights there. Now I have to make a claim on the travel
insurance. Don't leave home without it!  ;D

A couple of pictures ...

Did you get sick on the ship or was it a result of something that you ate/drank while ashore ?
Aim well to enjoy life. You only get One shot at it.

Fortunately the seas were fairly calm, so no sea sickness to go along with it.
We cruised with P&O. Not to happy with the service on board
this time. I think Princess is much better.
Wife did not have to stay in quarantine.

I know. A little birdie told me. LOL

Quote from: 'trout' pid='105623' dateline='1487644044'Did you get sick on the ship or was it a result of something that you ate/drank while ashore ?

Fairly sure it must have been from the ship.
We hadn't been ashore for 3 days by the time I got sick.

It was really horrible too.
I was so bad, that I was sitting on the toilet and passed out.
Woke up when I threw up on myself. Did that twice. Then I had
to clean up the mess. It wasn't pretty.

Final diagnosis was acute gastroenteropathy due to norwalk agent.
This would suggest a non bacterial virus, but they told me it was bacterial.
So really non the wiser as to what caused it.

Norovirus (Norwalk Virus).

goes through aged care wards and nursing homes like wildfire every year
and cruise ships
highly infectious

my son (who had the surgery today) and myself got a dose of it a few years ago
it has absolutely horrific

sounds as if it was the same for yourself

you certainly have my sympathy  and pleased to hear that you have recovered OK
