I found this whilst rummaging through some old boxes of stuff.
It is the same size as a shilling but is made of Copper/brass.
I also came across an old Brit Copper that is about the same size.

Counterfeit ??

Proc??

Aim well to enjoy life. You only get One shot at it.

Yep, that top piece is a brass counterfeit shilling, known colloquially as a "Brummagem button" - as they were called by Charles Dickens in The Pickwick Papers. So called because they were presumed made in the brass factories of Birmingham. It would have been silvered, once.
Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.

Not to be confused with Charles Dikkens, the well known Dutch author ..... ....... (Sorry Sap, couldn't help myself).

That's an interesting one trout.

The Legend on the reverse was
Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense (13th Century Anglo/Norman French)
Motto of The Order of the Garter
"Evil unto him who thinks evil of it"

With what looks like wear and deliberate removal of the left portion
of the legend, MAL Y PENSE on the right translates in isolation to
EVIL SCOUNDREL.

Somebody back then didn't think too much of German George
or the Wally that passed it onto him.

The second copper, yes Proclamation Coin.
Only Die Hards would stipulate that the 1oz (Penny)
was the Only coin Gazetted in the "Proclamation"
The Fractions and multiples are quite acceptable.
