Reasonable article for the general public. Unlike some similar articles I have seen, the values mentioned are not ridiculous -at least they asked someone who really knows these coins.
Not sure why 1946 penny was mentioned and not 1925.

hum
did that proof penny ever sell for the million?

I couldn't find a date on the article but my guess is that it is about 4 years old?

JeffH

The article was in yesterday's Sydney morning Herald (and, most likely, other Fairfax group papers).

Not picky.  If you've interviewed people in a shop, asked them the name of the shop (got that wrong), asked them name of the person who owns the shop (got that wrong), what chance is there of getting the other stuff even remotely correct?  Honestly I wonder how some journalists get their jobs.  People at NineMSN I am looking at you with your typos on the front page of the most popular news website in the country.  Oh and your crap Kardashian stories that you think constitute news.

thanks - just this quote here "One is alleged to have been privately sold last year for around the $1 million mark". I wasn't aware of that happening last year. Will have to do some research or perhaps it is a dealers' tall ships story - they are close to the harbour aren't they? I have never been there but I think a member here goes regularly.

ps - if that roo half-p is for sale for $30 - then I'm buying!!

Point well made. Because my names are unusual spelling I am used to people getting them wrong. As a result, I try to make a point to ensure I get peoples names correct.
It is really an insult to have the name wrong [and not just a simple spelling mistake].

I can see the headline now "Kardashian has a Crap". Sorry, just had to say that.

Change that to "Kardashian has a Crap Day as she bursts into flames and you'll never have to hear about her or her crap family again" and you've got a deal.

I second that motion! Pun totally intended.

:laugh2:

But what about if they were PURPLE Kardashians?  Surely that would be news worthy?

(btw: It seems Google has an endless supply of purple Kardashian pics).

I made a copy of the recent nudie rudie that she did as I thought the pose was classic albeit politically incorrect etc, photographer famous all that stuff  etc
but then I cleaned out my pictures folder and accidently deleted it

my life will never be the same again :laughingneqw:

disclaimer -  hell no!!! I don't want anyone's copy as a replacement for my folder ha ha

although I was interested in the modelling episode, I refuse to buy her handbags, perfume or jewellery and they are everywhere - like mac donalds  - this woman must be sooo loaded

I just read their names as Kim Kourtesan, Khloe Kourtesan etc and then I can just smirk rather than grimace when I see pictures of their ugly mugs and fat butts or see photos of their latest husband.

QuoteThe Wynyard Coin Centre sells around 98 per cent of all pre-decimal coins minted including, at the time of writing this story, one 1930 penny.

They had it on display several weeks back. But last time I was there it was gone.

That is seriously absurd. Certainly shows the amount of effort they put into research for their articles.
