I couldn't find the joke thread, do we even have one? We do now! I was googling and happened across this pic. Made me laugh.

Thought this was the appropriate thread for this.  I've been up in Ayr NQ clearing out the contents of the late Mother in Law's house.  Came across a copy of the "Australian Coin Chart" dated March 1964.  As well as providing the coin prices it also provides the following advice on how to clean your coins.

I love the advice about using "sand soap" which I presume to be something like solvol.

My how times have changed.

If anyone is interested I can scan the book and put it in the forum.  It's only 12 pages long.  The in laws never threw anything away.  Found a couple of kilo of penny and halfpenny, a few ounces of predecimal silver, a 10/- note and most hopefully a 1922 threepence but unfortunately without the important overdate.

Steve (Yes I did make my way to this forum eventually)

Nice one Steve. What else is in the book? It might be worth scanning.

I was looking through some old Australian Coin Reviews the other day and similar advice was given (but it said if you insist on using sand soap on gold coins, make sure you keep the dregs because of the gold you've scrubbed off).

JOKE
The blonde reported for her University final examination, which consists of "yes/no" type questions.
She takes her seat in the examination hall, stares at the question paper for five minutes, and then in a fit of inspiration takes her purse out, removes a coin and starts tossing the coin and marking the answer sheet - Yes for Heads and No for Tails.
Within half an hour she is all done whereas the rest of the class is sweating it out.
During the last few minutes, she is seen desperately throwing the coin, swearing and sweating.
The moderator, alarmed, approaches her and asks what is going on.
"I finished the exam in half and hour. But, she says, I am rechecking my answers."

Shilpa: Madam, I Lost A One Rupee Coin And Was Searching For It.
Teacher: Ramya, What About You?
Ramya: Madam, I Was Not Able To Move Because I Was Hiding That Coin Under My Feet.

The other day I needed to go to the public hospital but not wanting to sit there for 4 hours,

I put on my blue jacket and pinned on a plastic ID card that I had made off the Internet onto the front of my jacket.

When I went into the hospital, I noticed that 3/4 of the people got up and left.

I guess they decided that they weren't that sick after all.

Cut at least 3 hours off my waiting time.

Here's the patch.

Feel free to use it the next time you're in need of quicker emergency service.

It also works at Centrelink. It saved me 2 hours.

At the Laundry, three minutes after entering,

I had my choice of any machine, most still running.

Don't try it at McDonald's though.....The whole staff disappeared and l never got my order !!!!!...
