Ok just wondering what other people like, do you like old coins with a bit of character or do you like BLING, I'm both, I love a nice shinny coin with plenty of bling but then there's nothing like rubbing an old coin between the fingers and thinking who else might have had this in their hot little hand at some stage :)

Yeah I'm the same AJ. I love a beautiful cartwheel lustre, but also a coin with history all over it.

ausjack

well well great minds think alike, brother from another mother :friends: I also love the sound of silver and copper coins jingling and the smell and feel of the old paper notes :sleepy:

I go first with the overall appearance of the coin -some coins just look "nice". Then, if you look too carefully at fine details, wear, marks etc. you will start to think it's not very good at all!
So, go with the overall impression and don't worry too much about details.

if I haven't got one, then into the collection it goes.

Then, I start looking for a better coin.

Yes a very good point there Jeff as I have found that with many things, the more you look at something the more things you will find wrong with it.

gee I'd love a little looksee at what you've squirreled away over the years GS, I reckon it would be a bit of an eye opener.

Yes AJ the smell of the paper notes will never be replaced!
When bundles of the new paper came out it almost used to be overpowering, but great.

ausjack

Yeah the plastic funny money we have today just doesn't have what it takes :(

Yes Goldseeker. One (in any condition) is better than none at all -and upgrade is always possible sometime.
