Victoria Cross Ballot Coin

16 Jun 2014

When crafting the copper antique A History of the Victoria Cross coin, we wanted to create a coin which would allow customers to have a more tactile experience with it, in a similar way that the Victoria Cross medal itself can be touched and held. As such, we produced the coin through a process normally used to create medals and medallions, rather than collectable coins. The size and finish of the coin similarly reflect that of a medallion. Unlike an uncirculated or proof coin, the copper antique finished coin is unlikely to be overly affected by occasional handling, as a level of handling is necessary in the creation of this coin. We do however recommend you take care of the copper antique A History of the Victoria Cross coin as you would any coin in your collection, but the occasional, light-handed interaction with the coin is not going to impact the finish adversely.
Never, Ever, give up!

The Royal Australia Mint ballot coin should be called the eBay coin.

I received mine today. Coin was loose in the case. Is the case OK to keep the coin in, long term or should we be putting them into airtite capsules. Do they make capsules in 57mm?

Mine is loose too, nice coin. I was looking at the box hoping for certificate number 100 but it wasn't to be.

Thanks for reminding me. I forgot to check my certificate number. Just checked and I have number 157.

So close!  As there are 100 recipients and 100 names on the coin, certificate number 100 would BE THE one to have!
