everyone says they want more coin posts but how long can you rehash and fight over old topics and I try as I look for errors to post and not just sit here waiting for someone else to do the hard work finding them, so come on who else beside Uni and Nevol (mainly) post pic's of things they find. To me it's pretty simple, we need more collectors and IF you could get the lurkers to post there might be more to talk about and everyone collects different things so a lot of topics don't interest others eg NCLT as some people love them and others hate them and pre-decimal have books out so that cuts down on chat time as well and I look at it like music, there's only so many notes you can play so it restricts you and I see collectable the same and the card sites have the same problem until the new sets are released.
A wise person knows there is something to learn from everyone.

AJ has hit the nail on the head here.  These things are cyclical and numismatic posts come in fits and spurts.  Generally very few people generate the numismatic threads and the vast majority of other posters are either not interested in that topic or feel like they have nothing to add.  That's life and part of a coin forum.

Here's an example of a numismatic post that's fallen flat here.  In my previous existence on other forums the latest release from the RAM that looks like being a financial winner was always a hot topic of discussion.  So PPH thought it would be interesting to talk about the triangular lest we forget coin which is doing quite well on the secondary market.  And there's been zero interest in the topic.  Clearly the people who post here are quite different to those on other forums.  Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know, but it certainly means less talk.

And back to the original post.  I suspect that most of the threads Goldy is talking about are in the chit cat forum where they belong and where they can be ignored.  Not sure how much easier we can make it for you.

QuoteWASHINGTON DC -- Congress today passed a law making the "here comes the aeroplane" technique that parents have for centuries used to force-feed their infant children with illegal, arguing it is too similar to the terrorist attacks on the twin towers on September 11, 2001. "How infants can have such disrespect for the victims of such an attack makes me feel like I should smother my son in his cot" Republican Senator Ron Danser was quoted as saying. Ever since the horrific attacks on the World Trade Center took place, the "aeroplane" technique has become infamous, especially when Hollywood's super couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie where caught using it to feed their baby Shiloh her tofu several months ago. The child was promptly taken out of their care and given to a more well-respected couple, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Pitt and Jolie have since broken up.

Maybe people here don't collect triangular coins.
Obviously others do as it sold out quickly.

Just got back from a job and catching up on "Missed Posts" and came across this ????
The solution is quite simple just don't read what you are not interested in :ok:
This IS a coin forum BUT every member has OTHER interests as well and as Mark stated we have a Chin Wag section that lets members express their views and ideas regarding Non Numismatic interests, Which can be interesting, funny, educational or Boring (Depends on your point of view).
I agree that we all love our coins but funnily enough there is more to life than that and it is Nice to "Get to know" the various members other interests and ideas and it adds a "personal " touch to the site :good:
It is NOT the Mods function to "Filter" Non Numismatic posts ( That would be totally Draconian and IMHO that is NOT what this site is all about)
I personally don't care what people post about as long as it isn't abusive, pornographic, racially insulting , Sexually insulting,  or just socially unacceptable as long as the posts are kept in the correct thread.
So post away Me Hearties and I have just picked up some US and Canadian 2014 coins that I will post piccies of tomorrow just to keep the "Purists " Happy

Please don't get me wrong trout.   I do not want or expect the Mods to "filter out non numismatic threads" but all I was after is "is there any way I can block threads that I am not interested in".

Appears as if I can't do that so I will just have to go along and not read topics that I am not interested in.
