My guess is that most will end up in PCGS slabs.
I'd say the 23 halfpenny and 1919 double dot penny might have a problem crossing over though.

The collection also includes the enigmatic 1916I Mule Halfpenny, which features a 1916-dated Australian halfpenny reverse muled with the obverse of an India ΒΌ anna. Approximately 10 examples are believed to have survived and the famous "Koschade specimen" in the Benchmark Collection is only the second example to be certified by NGC. It is graded NGC AU Details.

Oh yes; PCGS know when a 1923 halfpenny has been cleaned; they also know what a genuine 1919 double dot penny looks like.

I suspect that many would not cross to the same PCGS grade.

It must be understood that the commentry has not undergone a peer review process.

(Of course there are many beautiful coins in the set.)

Perhaps the person who had them graded had a disagreement with the grades that PCGS have assigned some of his "finest known" coins in the past and it's left him with a bad taste in his mouth.  While I have never had a coin graded at NGC they do have the reputation of being "easier" on grades than PCGS.

Good to see the 1946 listed as a experimental strike,i've been told the 1922 Threepence i have may be a experimental strike so they do exist and have escaped the mint.

I have seen that set in person before it was graded about a year ago. I was completely blown away by how spectacular it was. It really is something special.

In this I disagree. That was one I was referring to in my comment about the need for peer review.
If you look at the coin in question you will see numerous "dots". These dots are the result of die damage (rusting etc - also note the die cracks) and it just happens that one of them is in the place where the 1940-1941 mintmark had been located.
I'm not certain but I recall someone saying that the mintmarks were added at the Perth Mint.

Oh that's very interesting, thanks :good:

Amazing coins, particularly the copper. The grades seem roughly 1 point above what they'd make with PCGS with some notable exceptions (the 1923 1/2D looks like a cleaned AU). Even subtracting one point puts so many coins right at the top of the PCGS pop charts.

I also didn't know about that variety until reading this thread and I have a PCGS MS63 1939 roo halfpenny so had to check and it's a BM variety although I'm not sure what difference it makes
