yes I much prefer the old system of tracking but there's no excuse for that, that is a joke but really good you got it :good:

For an organisation that size and the number of items handled I think AP does a good job.
Everyone loves to bitch about the very occasional mishap -even me; I love to tell about the box of crushed chinaware my wife received complete with tyre pattern across the middle! But it is rare for someone to notice the mostly good service as being noteworthy.

Overnight (regular post) service is common between here and Sydney which is just as fast as the advertised Express post service.

I suggest some game lifting is desirable with the tracking system and simplification of rates and options is well overdue -all the recent "simplifications" of the system have actually added several layers of complexity to many postal transactions.
One Post Office near here has just introduced a trial "postage only" counter to avoid the bottleneck caused by customers banking, bill paying, ticket purchasing, passport applying and such like. That could be a good game lifting initiative. Or, being of cynical bent, maybe I should call it a "clawing back to where they were years ago" move.

Overnight should be the norm between any two points in the country. Have a look at FedEx's operations, and especially their hub operations. OK, sure we don't have a central AP hub at say Alice Springs or Bourke, nor do they use a fleet of dedicated air freighters, but the same principles apply to road and rail.

The bottlenecks here are at the ends of the movements anyway. Staff screwing up at the source and destination mainly. The trunk routes are pretty much best practice with the tools they have to play with.

The seller had a bunch of coins sent to the east coast this week. Some of them were delivered in 2 days so I don't know what's going on with Aust post as deliveries from Melbourne usually take about 10 days to me

it might just be so it's not so busy for them getting closer to chrissie, you know like they actually did their job :winkextra: but yeah times are always different and same as sending from here as somethings get there quick and others take forever but as long as they get to where they should be it's all good :good:

Well, after giving AP some praise earlier I might have to reconsider!
My Maccas arrived today; correctly addressed and stamped from PPH. Postmarks extremely faint but looks like 9 or 10 December.
That's at least twice what AP says is expected delivery time from a capital city area to a country area interstate.

Now, another negative.
Just now posted a large, high value parcel to the Ukraine. Express Post International with insurance -postal charge $267.05.
Want to let recipient know tracking details but...entered item ID for a result of "No events currently found."
I saw the barcode scanned and the same ID is on my postal receipt.

Sent an enquiry to AP asking about this and enquiry confirmation  page starts "Thankyou for contacting Australia Post. We are presently experiencing unusually high demand for online support which is affecting our normal response times. We apologise for this inconvenience and will be in contact with a response to your enquiry as soon as possible."
Funny, it has said that every time I have made an enquiry in the past. I am sure management is not too thick to know what the remedy is (well, reasonably sure). So I assume they are too penny pinching to improve the service, which has a direct result on customer satisfaction level.

Now I wait to see if they respond within two business days, as promised -that would be the first time they have ever met this promise with me.

Same here Jeff mine arrived today but 1 week is quite reasonable
considering that 10 days from a capital city and 2 weeks from Hobart
would be normal for me.I've had stuff arrive from England in 7 days and yet it takes up to 10days from Melbourne. Now that should raise a few eyebrows

Quote1 week is quite reasonable
Maybe so but Australia Post says "To other states between metropolitan areas of capital cities and country locations   3 days". Domestic delivery times

Maybe the real problem is not the delivery time but the fact that they promise delivery times that they very rarely meet.
