One of my current collecting passions are Coin Club / Numismatic Society Medallions.
Last weekend (9th - 10th November) the Numismatic Association of Australia held its annual weekend conference in Brisbane.
On the Saturday night a combined NAA and The Australian Numismatic Society Queensland Branch held it annual dinner.
All who attended the conference and all who had attended the dinner were allowed to purchase medallions made for these events.

Below are the 2 medallions:

The Numismatic Association of Australia Conference Medallion (NAAC2013)

The reverse of this medal is in braille in memory of a great collector Graeme Stevens

The dinner medallion was issued by the Australian Numismatic Society Queensland Branch for the dinner:

Another medallion I picked up on ebay was issued by the Newcastle Numismatic Society in 2004

The silver one was auctioned at the dinner and went to the wife of an ANS member who purchased it for her husband's 70th Birthday in January.  The highest bid was $260.00

These medals are a passion of mine too and was sorry I didn't get to meet you there Humpy. I only found out on the second day that you were at the evening dinner.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to speak at the conference (coincidently on an Australian Medal) and was award one of the silver finished medals.

While I was there I also picked up an array of Queensland numismatic societies' medals issued for the Sesquicentenary (lovely word that)

There's a common obverse

And I got three different reverses:

There was also this beast of a medal to commemorate 10 years of the QNS as well as the sesquicentenary of the Newstead Homestead

(it's more of a belt buckle than a medal!)

But probably my favourite piece was rescuing this box from a dealers window while I was in Brisbane:

Which contained these two beautiful medals as part of the Numismatic Associations of Victoria's Explorers series:

As the current presidents of the NAV I had to bring them home :)

Oh and at the conference they did give a talk on the medal's production, including the passing around of the die, which was interesting.
