Maybe because the whole $200 thing was a dud from the outset. Those of us who bought in regretted it immediately, and quickly lost interest. :dodgy:

The $200 coins were duds meaning overpriced at the time but so is many NCLT coin
Same as the $10 coins but in saying that its lovely to see these beautiful coins the owners should be proud to have these

No. The premium was only $15 originally. What made them duds was the total lack of demand as time progressed and the high multiple over intrinsic value. Sure, today they're worth double face value, but for many years you couldn't give them away, and many ended up being deposited with banks and melted down. Therefore with each passing year, fewer and fewer people bothered.

1980 Koala 207,500
1981 Royal Wedding 77,890
1982 XII Commonwealth Games 77,206
1983 Koala 88,000
1984 Koala 49,200
1985 Koala 29,186
1986 Koala 15,298
1987 First Fleet Departure 20,800
1988 First Fleet Arrival 11,000
1989 Frilled-Neck Lizard 10,020
1990 Platypus 8,340
1991 Emu 6,879
1992 Echidna 3,935
1993 Squirrel Glider 3,014
1994 Tasmanian Devil 4,000

Even today, with intrinsic value over $400, you can probably get any of them for $600 or so. I can think of a lot better uses for $200 at the time that would have paid off much better than that. That's why I stopped buying them, and so did most others.

Goldseeker

I have several of the Koala's and two of Diana and Charles.   I would like to secure the rest but not at $550 plus for each coin.

Further, I would like to get the State Flower series but not at $600 plus each.
