I won't cash my chit in on this one!
I have disconnected from all media sources that might expose me to the "drama" and will be going to bed soon. Tomorrow is soon enough to find out what is happening.
Since Ted Mack and Peter Andren (in NSW but, there must have been some in other states) have we had any politicians who have had a genuine concern for the people and the democratic process? Or, are they all ego driven?

What a shame it all is. And, post the September election, regardless of the result, do I expect to see any change?
Answer -I hope yes, but expect no.

Gee, I was hoping you would offer some new, fresh faces for our government. They just look like the existing with some new clothes and a little make up.

Oh I don't know.  The one in the middle of the bottom row looks just like the now-ex PM.

He's already the president of the USA.  He can't be PM too.  That's just silly.  A puppet bear in a hat for PM?  That's not silly, it's just common sense!

Who cares who is the Prime Minister tonight.

Come September 14, I think it is, we will have another Prime Minister............and the Labour Party will be gone, wiped out in one of the most lop sided defeats in Australia's Political history.

As Gough Whitlam once said "Nothing can save the................."

That was kinda the whole point of the excercise, and the sole reason Kev changed his mind.

Any landslide is a terrible thing. Regardless of who the winners are, the whole country become losers. Governance needs checks and balances, and in our parliamentary system that comes from a strong opposition. Lack of opposition leads to all sorts of bad decisions, and we've seen plenty of examples in the past, at all levels of government.

Julia would have handed Abbott carte blanche to do whatever he damn well pleased, and nobody could have stopped him. And we all know he has some really wierd, possibly irrational ideas.

Now that Kev's back, he should be able to rein him in to a one or two seat majority, which will keep the bastards honest, we hope. There are things afoot that really need to go through unhindered, and not be lobotomised in the way that the libs said they'd cripple the NBN, to cite one example. The school and disability reforms would never ever have been put in place by a liberal government, and we're better off for having them. Do we really want to endure years of bad decisions that need to be fixed a decade or two down the track?

Oh, and there is also a remote possibility that Kev might just pull a rabbit out of the hat. If he did, I reckon he'd make a much much better PM the second time around. Maybe not a great one, but certainly better than the alternative. And if THAT happened, it would give the opposition time to find a decent leader who might actually do great things.

Cos Tony never will. :(
