Is there a way to import a table into a post? Say from Word or XL.
Would save a lot of typing of what I have previously done.

Not as text there isn't.  You can take a screenshot and insert an image if you want to.

I thought as much and I have used a screenshot before.
I just tried a cut and paste from XL and it comes up readable but formatting a bit screwed.
A little fiddling with spaces got a useable result and saved a lot of typing. I think a screen shot would have resulted in an image that would be hard to read because of the size of the table.

A screenshot is probably the worst of the options, mainly because of size and resolution.

A PDF is better, but still large,

There are two text options. One is to throw the text into a HTML formatted page and link that. The formatting can be as basic a just a couple of tags at the top, and the rest plain text. The
tag will preserve the text exactly as you typed it.

The other is to put the text into a text editor (NOT a word processor like Word), and fiddle the spacing manually until you get it right, then copy that here.

Personally, I tend towards the PDf option, since its a reasonable compromise, and easy to do.

You could try pasting the data as formatted code. Sometimes it works brilliantly for me and other times it's a dud. Click on the # from the above menu, when done click on it again. See how you go. Here's a small one I prepared earlier:

A PDF is not better.  If you want to make the text readable in a post then post it as a screenshot or as text.  Putting it in an attachment is not a good idea.

Another suggestion is to type them up into Excel and then select and copy the cells you want to appear in the post, paste the result to your image editor.  Save the image and insert that in a post.  It works pretty well.  I used it for the results of the grading competition from a few weeks back and I believe AC is using it in her new releases thread.

Fulvio. I have set up my ISP webspace, transferred my PDF there and can't access my URL without user name and password -get "403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access /ulansol/ on this server."

Any suggestions?

QuoteTry this thread on the exetel forum?
Already worked my way through everything there (and more).

I can access my PDF and view it on-line, I can download it but only by logging in.
What I want is to make it available for anyone to see.

Do I have to somehow insert it in the URL Exetel have given me?
Do I have to have a *.html file somewhere for the URL to work?
Do I have to link my file uploads (Index of ftp://fw_ulansol@home.exetel.com.au/) to the given address http://home.exetel.com.au/ulansol?

I have followed all the instructions from Exetel webspace setup page (Web Space Configuration) but feels like something is missing.

I tried saving my table as Notes.html and uploaded that but only get a directory called Notes_files and no sign of the original file??? It opens OK in browsers.

All this is quite new and foreign to me.

Well, maybe I went the long way around but I am now getting there.
I have a "website" so I can post links to my coin pictures and details in my very own web space.
Now, when I get time. I will try to jazz it up with a snazzy font and some colour.
