Well done Neal.A fellow collector in our coin + banknote club payed $475 for a cleaned Centenary florin in EF on EBay. Why people buy cleaned coins is beyond me unless it's extremely rare.

I agree with you on that. Normally you can get a MS64 for that if you look hard enough.

High grade coins go for a lot more now than 2-3 years ago as Neal commented.

At the recent Roxburys auction (November) Centenaries in EF-aUnc were going for about $400 (so about $500 with commission). Getting a MS64 for $475 was possible a year ago but now to get one would be very lucky.
I bid on a few high grades in that auction and I put in very high bids, but the final prices were far more than I was prepared to pay.
Lot 1820 1952 florin MS65 (est. 600-800), went for $4600
Lot 1826 1954 Comm Florin MS66 (est 400-600), went for $5500. Add in commission and that price is 20 times what an MS65 currently goes for and 3X what MS66 went for 2 years ago.

I agree Neal, I have been bidding on a few items similar to you. One was a 1915 3D other was the 1918 6D. Went very high but I stopped when I knew the price paid is probably not worth (at least for me). End up finding a 1915 3D but still looking for that elusive 1918 6D ?

I don't remember who bought it but I sold some of my duplicates a few years ago, I would say before the COVID drama.. 1934 6D MS65 for somethings like $450 (I paid something like $1800) and 1934/35 in MS65 for $600 or so... hopefully those days will be back soon.. occasionally you find good deals.. I know it's a plug but Eric has some stuff at reasonable prices than auctions most times..

Hi Ausproofs. It was ME that purchased your spare '34 sixpence (plus a few other nice coins, thanks ).
Yes, Eric is one of my preferred dealers. Purchased a 1950 sixpence off him 2 weeks ago ($2250), more than the $1887.53  that my other example cost me from Imperial Auctions back in September 2020 (ex MSN collection, so our forum host). Same grade but has a nice federation star (both my other one and Timbertops have a flattened star).
Eric also has a nice 1956 sixpence for $2250 and a few other goodies.
I have picked up 2x1918 sixpences this past fortnight from bulk purchases. Of course they are only VG and VF (dirty) so not the sort we dream of.
Your set of early sixpences is drool worthy with plenty of rich toning (I'm a sucker for toning).

Hi Neal, There you go.. I am getting old, forgot my 6D went to you. I am glad you picked it up as it is a very nice coin. Ex Fenton collection.
Oh so you picked up the 1950 6D from Eric. Nice work. It's a nice coin. I saw the photos after it was sold. Thanks for the compliment about my 6D collection, I love toning as well. If I see a good coin with nice toning I try very hard to pick them up. I am waiting for that 1918 6D to turn up. They don't come easy I can tell you. Good luck with your bargain hunting.. hope we all come across some nice bargains soon. I need it after the crazy 2 years we had and the time we are having at the moment.
