You know I'm going to have to ask which bank, right? I knew some of the guys at NAB in East Melbourne, and spent a couple of nights in there checking out their systems.

Anyway, apparently there is a right way and a wrong way to rotate shifts. IIRC, you should rotate forward, but our CC Manager at Social Security rotated them backward, with the result being everyone was jetlagged all the time. Or rather would have been if not for the fact we usually knocked off early. Production work was normally done by about 3-4am, and everyone got to go home to bed except one operator and the shift manager. Obviously this wouldn't work with a bank, as the couriers bringing in cheques would still be arriving at that hour, and encoding them took a while before they could be read in.

ANZ in North Sydney,the NAB NSW computer centre was just up the road,we used to drink with them. Yeah we used to have all the work completed by 3-5am if there was no problems,Easter.Xmas and some Friday's we would still be going at 9-10am next morning. It was a whole new era for Banking and we had major problems in many areas,the shift work was just one part of it and the extra allowance of $2(?,whatever) was a joke.
The taxi story on ACA a couple of weeks ago brought back memories,all Female staff got a free taxi home if they worked past 9.00pm and we had regular complaints of Taxi drivers,usually new Australians, coming on to the girls,free ride for sex,they would process the Cab docket for the trip but give the girls the equivalent cash.

Never met a bigger buncha pisspots before or since. Seems the two main requirements for computer centre staff was a complete lack of interest in computers, and a complete lack of sobriety. I failed on both counts.

Yup, exactly the same for us, except for the sex thing. If I was being harsh, I'd say our girls were too ugly, but that would be a horrible thing to say, wouldn't it?

Totally agree, RG. There's not much more abhorrent than predators, whether they pick on women, kids or blokes. String 'em up by their bits, I say!
