Yes, poor old CCF.

I think even the APCGS drum beaters have disappeared since they lost their audience!

Thank God that Mark and PP have kept them out of here!

Quite so. By way of example, here is a little gem from /r/dogecoin in response to a post I put up warning people to do a WHOIS on websites promising riches, and that if they use WhoisGuard, they are almost certainly scams, because criminals thrive on anonymity:

"Pretty definitive if you ask me. You can be nothing but a scammer, but, more likely, the OP is a f**** w*****."

Isn't it NICE to know that some random stranger knows you well enough to be able to opine on how you spend your leisure time? :diablo:

Still, while human nature is what it is, and we're never going to escape conflict and misunderstanding, I would agree with Marshall McLuhan that "The Medium is the Message", and that the exact same group of people will often interact differently in different mediums.

That's why I don't go to CCF at all, despite all the same people being there. I don't like the way the place is set up and run, so I very rarely log in. And I'm not a huge fan of Forums in general either. The necessity to deliberately log in and look for content, combined with the high noise ratio imposed by the way they're structured, makes alternatives such as Reddit (and Google+ before they ruined it) far more attractive to me. And as I've said before, you can't beat email for delivering valuable content in a timely fashion.

BTW, this has been a thorny issue for the new Dogecoin Foundation as we've struggled to find the perfect communications medium. We've been making do with Slack after Skype fell over, but it wouldn't scale. Against my advice, they set up a new forum, which as predicted, is a ghost town. And every other option anyone came up with had some fatal flaw or other. :(

I'm starting to think the answer may ultimately lie in the blockchain, once a suitable method for managing subscriptions and for editing/moderating content are worked out. The next few years could be interesting...

Can't you see it? it's just politics. If Julia Gillard and her band of hand ringers had stuck to the course and left Kevin Rudd and his band of hand ringers alone, and allowed his government to see out the program, who knows what tune we would be dancing to today. OK, so I liked Kevin Rudd but it's the same for this forum, what worked yesterday will still work tomorrow, so why is there a need to interfere? Tell you why, it's to do with ego and a need to control.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

Hello,

This was the first Forum I found when looking for one. Still havn't tried any other, because this is a good mix. For any Forum to be a success IMO it needs more than just the topic it is about. There is that here, as well as sections about particular things. The General Chat is normally where I spend most time on Forums. I look elsewhere, but I enjoy the banter with other regular Poster's. Like minded people with similar interests.

You will find most members here (well, the active ones at least) are also on http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/ with varying levels of activity.

CCF is a great resource, and its wide open to the public, which makes finding stuff really easy. And there is a pretty high standard of knowledge and research for a lot of the material on it.

That said, it is lacking in some departments, and definitely isn't up to our community standards, IMO. Not the kind of place you go to hang out with your mates or meet new ones... more like that office full of bureaucrats you need to visit every so often to get some job or other done.

Which is fine, of course. Different horses for different courses and all. ;)

Yeah I get crabby from time to time and rant and rave but I keep coming back, I just can't help my self sometimes but so appreciate you's letting me back :blush2: And most of the tribe are pretty bloody good here :good: Unlike CCF where I can't even say hell without getting a ban

This is the only coin forum I belong to.  I've enjoyed being with a great many of you over the course of the two previous forums and this one.  It's important to remember that it takes all kinds to make up the world.  I'm sure many of us would be friends had we ever personally met.  If I could contribute more, I would, but even after all these years I'm still a lightweight.
