This forum is about numismatics.
Some members may want the option to view numismatic type posts only.
Instead of all the chig wag stuff which includes anything under the sun.

This forum is dominated by a small number of members who see it as a chat forum about anything.

I've had enough chilli sauce.

I'd say its dominated by wallflowers who never say anything about anything, and probably never log in, actually.

When the active users who blather on about anything and everything take a holiday, the forum dies. Or hadn't you noticed?

Sadly I am insulted as I feel that I do a bit of both socializing and taking part in some of the numismatic discussion. and i don't just focus on pcgs grades and promoting my sales or boasting about profits.

And to add. The chillies sauce is about friendship and people sharing some aspects of their life. I believe it is a chin wag thread and no body is making anyone read them. If you want a strictly dry coins and profits only forum, then go make one yourself and stop whinging about the more social folk here who do also show an interest in the pcgs threads.

nealeffendi

I'm with Robbiegal and Fulvio on this. This isn't just a dry numismatic forum but a forum for numi collectors to socialise. Takes all of 2 seconds to scan the list of today's posts to skip past Trouts chilli post if you have no interest in socialising and just want coins.

Unicorn

I think the forum is fine as it is and the threads are broken down into areas of interest as they are.

Read whatever takes your fancy.

Personally I enjoy all aspects of it.

Pedro

One of the strengths of the forum is that it caters to the needs of collectors in various categories but it also permits forumites to discuss other non-coin related subjects in a partitioned section.

I suspect most users have multiple hobbies or interests and the Chin Wag area is a great outlet for those discussions.

I have to agree that the diversity is what makes this forum.

We're a pretty strange breed so it's great to have a outlet where we can vent our various views and opinions on all manner of things in our lives.

Expanding the functionality of the forum buttons is like asking for another lane on the main highway through Hobart....there just isn't enough traffic to justify it!

Quite so. Additionally, interests change, and what's boring today become riveting tomorrow.

For example, I'm currently reading maybe two threads and ignoring all the rest. I've been like that for months now. That doesn't mean I'm not interested in the others, just not up to following them right now is all. If and when that changes, well, they're there for the taking.

I feel I must comment on the forum and how it goes , I for one read every word that comes on the forum and about anything and everything , I enjoy it too , I come on every day , on and off every day , even when I am on holidays and I can find a computer in a shop where I pay up to $ 2.50 for 20 minutes I still use that . as for chilli sauce I don't like it but I still read it also knowing my friends are talking about something they enjoy and it is still interesting to read .

I'll probably get kicked off the forum, but personally I find Aussie coins boring. I come here to read about the world coins that get posted (not enough of them though) and I enjoy the chat and sledging that goes on (as long as it remains civil). I do occasionally read articles about Aussie coins and I think I might be getting sucked more into looking for those errors and varieties, but I don't think I would ever collect them.

Like has been said already though, you can select which topics you read and which ones you leave, so really there isn't a problem. Is there?

I agree with Steve, I don't see any problem here ?

I love this forum ... I come here every day. May be 20 times just to see what's new etc..  I have a very stressful job so this is my stress relief  :yahoo:

This is a hobby forum so as I see it, this should be a place everyone can come and share their knowledge, have a chit chat, have a laugh and enjoy each others company... Taking things personally or seriously is not the best way to handle it..

If we all respect others opinion, I am sure we all will have lot of fun here... I am a new comer here, but I have seen some very deep friendships and very generous gestures.. that tells me majority of people here are decent bunch

Collecting coins is not about having the best, but loving what you have ...

I like this forum, I think it's a good place to drift off to. Can't say any more than that, it's all been said.

I can understand that a passionate numismatist, at times, may feel some amount of frustration from a perceived lull in forum activity of whatever grabs them. Not making excuses for any amount of rudeness, but if in a moment of busted boiler  an individual blows off some steam, it may be counterproductive for them and everyone else if that individual was to be overly spifflicated :blackeye: Spell checker doesn't recognise that word, but the dictionary does, colloquial for beaten up and all that stuff :)  (another one up for old technology). The old timers often used it when I first started work as a hairy ar.ed boy :dodgy: Hmmm...who could blame them

The thing is, if things are slow, kick in and wind it up.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!
