Bridges here aren't tourist attractions for the most part.  Typically all you can do is cross them in a moving vehicle.  You're probably on to Verazzano Narrows and Seven Mile Bridge because of films or TV.  You don't hear about the Lake Ponchatrain Causeway very often.
A lot of our bridges fail because of age and lack of maintenance.  It's usually the first time anybody outside the vicinity has heard of them.

I clearly came across two distinctive types of collectors selling tokens, medallions and coins on ebay
Sydney Harbour Bridge and Churches - some people actively collect coins and medallions of the two - and source from ebay world wide as well
SHB might also be a part of the bridge theme
I also had one buyer who actively purchased 'Opera House' memorabilia - any opera house worldwide
so of course the  Sydney Opera House items that I had up were snavelled up by him

Someone needs to relocate the Opera House onto one end of the bridge and build a Church up the other end.  That'd confuse all of the collectors.

By Churches RG, do you mean ones with images of Churches on them, or just Church (religion) related?

robbiegal

church buildings & sometimes also with a Pope on them
like the ST Mary's Cathedral medallion

Thanks RG.

I have one of these I've been trying to sell, but I don't think that's what you're meaning. Thanks again.

A recent purchase that I am over the moon about. Look at the gorgeous blue toning. Picked it up at the Edlins auction a week ago against the stiff competition of a phone bidder but I came out the winner.

It's a 1932 sporting prize medal awarded to the Kookaburras in Basketball, minted by Amor and in it's original box in superb condition.

Awesome medal PPH.  It's an impressive 50mm medal and the toning is quite a bit more attractive than that shown in the image.  The edge is inscribed with "Basket Ball C.G.A.S.A. Kookaburras".  We're pretty sure (based on some stuff we found on Trove) that CGASA stands for "City Girls Amateur Sports Association".  We found a mention of this medal type being awarded as prizes for sports competitions held in conjunction with the opening of the Bridge in 1932 so (as PPH mentioned) this one was awarded for the girls basketball tournament.
