Looks like Walter has his eyes open so if you want a genuine proof  Numisbid is the place to go because the coins are "Vetted" before they are listed :good:

Quote from: 'Nightparrot' pid='41400' dateline='1392122406'I've had a couple of pennies from the 1950s come back from PCGS recently graded as proofs. I know they are not proofs so they have had to go back for review. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm not a proof penny collector but if I was it would ring some warning bells.

Sounds odd.
Do you have the PCGS numbers/links ?

Here is a link to one of the coins originally graded as proof.

oh dear.

The odd identification or labelling error does occur.
We just sent back 24 Burke & Wills dollars that were labelled as Burke & Wills 20c.

Gee Peter they'd pay big money on feebay for an error like that :winkextra:

PCGS does make mistakes. Sometimes they're simple typos, and sometimes they misidentify a MS as a PR.

There is a PR61 1910M sovereign, but it is clearly not a proof.

The coin was sent back and PCGS corrected the error.

We have a 21-M threepence that has been labelled as a 21(m). I had the incorrect coin number on the sub form but they should have known. Its going back for correction.

Well got me coins back from the plastic factory, the coin with the bump came back at au58 so I think it lost a few points because of the bump.
Thanks for all you comments
