Hi notcb
Thank you for your kind words and your support
In response to your comment on the 2008 50 cent Silver Mouse Proof (Series 1) coin it is difficult to put a price on a coin that has no sales, hence the next step is to use proxies, which in this case were the 2008 50 cent Silver Ox Proof (Series 1) coin and the 2008 50 cent Silver Tiger Proof (Series 1) coin. Since the 2008 50 cent Silver Tiger Proof (Series 1) coin had the only sale in 2024 this was used as a base with a premium added since less of the Mouse Proofs were minted.
Personally i believe the above-mentioned 3 silver proof coins are grossly overlooked by most collectors - they are actually rare gems - if you own one you have done well and I can only see their prices increasing in the future as they become more appreciated by collectors, especially when they see the gap in their collections.
Thanks

I will definitely announce a pre-decimal version if it happens in the future

Hi gweidon
Thank you for your kind words
In response to your questions in turn:

Do you have something similar for gold coins?
Not at the moment but if there is demand for it I can incorporate in the future, not just gold but also platinum + palladium. There is another reason for this - gold/platinum/palladium coins are not traded online at a retail level at an extent where the sales can be quantified beyond their bullion value. You may see one gold/platinum/palladium coin sold for every 100 silver coins due to their value compared to silver coins which puts them out of reach for most collectors. Therefore it becomes much harder to establish a true value on these coins and ultimately comes down to a subjective opinion. Having said that I am looking at the feasibility doing a catalogue only version for gold/platinum/palladium with bullion values only which at least allows the collector to known what coins were minted, what they look like and what their relevant specifications are.

or other countries? Canada? US?
Only Australian coins at the moment due to the amount of time needed just to keep up with Perth Mint & Royal Australian Mint releases

Pre-decimal?
Only Decimal coins at the moment not only for the same reason as above but also it is harder to establish condition of coin from just a couple of images. Having said that I am looking at the feasibility doing a catalogue for pre-decimal Australian coins based on PCGS/NGC graded coins

You are correct on the amount of hours needed - it does take a few hours a day to keep my system up to date. It is enjoyable though to see how coins are faring on the retail market

BY VICTOR CRUISE
PDF EBOOK CATALOGUE

The catalogue not only lists coins minted by these mints but includes an image of every coin. As a matter of completeness popular non-legal tender coins and medallions that have been made in silver are also included - though the catalogue is not extensive in this area it serves as a good guide for most common medallions for sale on the internet. Precious metal and standard metal sets that incorporated a silver coin are also included as well as P.N.C's with a silver coin. Readers will find this catalogue an invaluable resource for their silver coin collecting needs

Yes it is Greg - like the old Krause catalogs
In my opinion everything's headed (and eventually even the coin community) to online formats/platforms so I feel it is only a matter of time before paperbacks become a thing of the past and hence page counts will no longer matter
Till then (or perhaps till the consumer demands it) and in the interests of providing as much information of a particular coin as possible I will be adhering to one page per coin

Thanks Mister T
I am relieved the work is finally done and out there
3,600 pages due to my decision to dedicate one page per coin

Coin Chit Chat / RE: Cashless society by 2020??
May 23, 2024, 02:31:02 PM
I do not think cash will ever disappear. Even though the phrase "cashless society" is often thrown around by the media and of course banks are making it more and more difficult to withdraw cash by limiting ATM's etc the fact remains that people have learned through recent major outages of the electronic system that cash is the only effective form of commerce backup.
I know there are many business that do not accept cash and until a recent conversation with a business owner I was always under the impression they had signed onto some globalist plan. The simple fact was that they removed cash because of robberies they experienced and not because they did not embrace the notion of cash as a medium of exchange. That said they also mentioned they preferred cash because there are no fees associate with handling cash unlike fees for card machines etc. Nonetheless, how many business/activities out there can only survive on cash eg donation boxes or people knocking on your door for donations, tipping at certain entertainment venues (use your imagination), lemonade stands and fares etc
Despite the statistics reported if cash usage was on a downhill slope why is it still produced by The Royal Australian Mint and Note Printing Australia Limited - there must be a logical reason otherwise why spend all that money making currency that is not often used.
