Post Your Australian Decimal Coins By Year – 1977
#2

I don't have any interesting 1977 coins so I'll pull a couple of fun facts from the Royal Australian Mint report ended 30 June 1977.

The Mint was successful in producing dodecagonal 50c coins on the 200 tonne presses producing 200 coins per minute.

In the laboratory at the Mint they individually weighed 55 600 coins and imported blanks as part of quality control.

The Mint had the capability of striking 600 million coins per annum but only produce 300 million blanks which is why it was necessary to import banks.

Look closely at the 1977 Jubilee 50c, depicted is a central wattle blossom and 25 overlapping crowns.
