The Endangered species coins are interesting as well , especially the piedfort ones :dance2:

Very nice indeed, I've looked into the flora range, I know they aren't proof but being in the Nursery industry it's really interesting to me.

trout

I just picked up this one.

I only have 20 different ones of these and have plenty more to hunt up :good:
They look great alongside the business strikes and proof coins, When you open the album up there is a smattering of silver proof coins on each page :dance2:

i don't have as many as you guys but anyways, here's some pics to brighten up the thread

I find it hard to believe those are all circulation coins. Regardless...:drooling:

Jeff
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Lovely coins robbiegal- I agree with Trout that the proofs seem to have that extra appeal.! Good job with the pics.! We will all be experts soon.!!

hi Jeff
the round 50c is a proof from a 1966 set
the 1970 is from one of those red cases and they are said to be specimen strikes - if original coins and that can vary
i reckon both the 1988 and the RAM are from mint sets although purchased as 'uncs' - i do have a proof 1988 so i could take a pic and compare the reverses
cheers robbie
ps this is the first time that i have photgraphed these coins, some are toning very nicely in the album

That's a great price, I picked up that decade dollar proof not so long ago for about $35 aswell, I'm so glad to that everything I have purchased off eBay has been of such good quality also.

I managed to score a full roll of coloured poppy $2 coins just 2 days ago.

Close to my biggest purchase so far.

Once I look into reducing my photo sizes ill start posting pics also

I love the quality of those coins Robbiegal, love those particular coins

robbiegal

here's my wind mill Trout - it is a bit scrappy around the 'cents'
these next 3 are business strikes
the QLD 20 c from 2001 is also another favourite design - i think it's spectacular
my pics tend to be dark at the base cause i only use one light

here's another one for Trout
i have it marked as e/f (ex a couple of obverse scratches which are a pity)
what do you reckon?

trout

RG I will send you a GOOD windmill, That Canberra looks like a 3 stepper to me and a lot better than EF.
It looks like a AU55-58 coin that may have been cleaned but has started to re-tone.
Nice :good:

thanks Trout
that '27 is quite brighter in the hand
my photos always seem dull
i do try Marks suggestions about the light balance thingee in the camera but i can just never catch the real silver look of the brighter coins

hope it's not cleaned
i didn't have it with my 'cleaned' group

thanks for the offer of the windmill 50c
i have had the 50c collection for many years now and don't take them out oftten enough to look at them - reading up here about decimal collecting has re-inspired me
got most from the local coin shop but not all - the windmill above definately from the coin shop so I would have tried to pick the best one from the pages

i'd appreciate getting a better one as it always reminds me of where I camped once near the three ways in the NT (many moons ago)
we camped in our tent on the way to Devils Marbles and set up beside a water tower with the windmill
and being young and dumb we even climbed up the tower and into the water tank for a swim - very refreshing and somewhat slimey from mossy stuff!

I have some great photographs of the shadow (taken from the tower of the windmill) as it moved across our motorbike in the afternoon
the shadow looks similar to the design of that windmill
cheers rob

good place robbie ,  i have camped at the same place , , in the old days you could swim in the water tanks , but you had to scoop out all the dead birds first ,..   ,, kel ,,
take care because we care ..

robbiegal

cool - small world Kel
yeah the boyfriend probably did that first or he would have known that i wouldn't have jumped in

it was nice , i have good memories of that trip

nothing nicer than a warm dip in the sweltering heat
esp. on the motorbike cause we'd have the roadgear on and boy it could get quite hot

a water tank is far far nicer than the crows nests
they were always yukkie

back then you could just pull up anywhere really and set up camp
we were always sleeping outside the car when we were kids, just the tarp and mozzie stuff
mum would even set up the baby travel cot on the tarp
these days a person can get fined for doing just that - which is a pity but safer i suppose

a robbie good fun , we still came like that , on the side of the road sometimes when we travel , but i have a slideon camper on my ute now and we have never had any trouble .. love it , but getting a bit to old now ,so the next trip will be to the gemfest in the west ,. that i hope will be my last trip ..  kel ,,
