The detailed, earthy colours of the bounding kangaroos help to bring the $1 coin to life like never before and, in doing so, ensure that this piece of numismatic history will appeal to collectors both young and old.

Gee they nearly had me thinkin that I really needed this coin but then I looked in my wallet and seen I don't really need it :laugh2:
Still not sure about these pad prints as there's just something about them :scratch_one-s_head:

uncirculated coloured mor on copper nickel planchet

Yes I ordered that one as well.

They've got something wrong in that listing.  They've listed that coin as found in the 2014 mint set.  But the coin in the mint set is a pad printed AlBr coin, not copper nickel at all.  So it's either a unique release (which would be cool) or the whole listing it up the gurgler.

I'd lean toward the later Mark :)

I don't think it is a "Gurgler" even the packaging states its cu/nickel .
This will complement the gold plated proof perfectly :yahoo:
My 2004 silver MOR coin is a 40mm issue so I am hoping the 2014 coin is the same size.
A fat 32mm coin would be cool as well.

Got this info in an email from RAM.

And with the 23 million $1 circulating coins planned to be produced for the=  Anzac Centenary, many of you may have commented on whether or not we'll se= e a standard 2014 $1 coin this year. We couldn't go through the 30th annive= rsary without it but we are adding a twist, well, an 'S' for Sydney. Early = in May, we'll be heading to Sydney with the mobile press and the $1 'mob of=  roos' coins! Still confirming date and location but stay tuned for more in= formation.

I have actually lost count of the number of 25mm $1 issued so far this year.
Anyone know how many so far?

QuoteGiven that the regular 1oz roos are 40mm in diameter I wonder what's going on with the 1oz MOR dollar. Either it's not 32mm, it's not 1oz, it's a thick planchet (piedfort), or the specifications are wrong.

The speccs on the RAM site put it as 32mm so I am assuming it will be peidfort like .

You assumed correctly.  Here's a response I just got from the RAM:

QuoteHi there, we have used a thicker blank to bring out the high relief technique we've applied. It definitely accentuates the design - if you end up getting your hands on one, let us know what you think!

I suggested the high relief design for silver coins and they went with the one dollar, nice to know that the mint listens to collectors, this will be the first high relief design for decimal coins from the RAM

While I am sure they took note of what you said the thousands and thousands of high relief coins the PM has been selling for years was probably the major contributing factor to what amounts to little more than a marketing gimmick.

I like the high relief idea, can't wait to see it in hand. But this is my fave design.

I talked to main guy back at the anda show last year, I have his personal email, and he joined the forum but never logs on.
he like the idea of high relief and asked heaps of questions while I was there, I explained that collectors liked the deep detail in the design, like the pre decimal coins used to have and he said like the parliament house design, so he knew exactly what I was talking about, I would think that they are on par with the setup of PM with the pricing and mintage of the coins on offer, the only thing is PM release 10,000 in one packaging then release another lot in different packaging, at least with the RAM you know the coin will not be re minted with different packaging.

I like that they introduced the high relief with the anniversary of the $1, hopefully this is a one time thing tho, but if it goes well you just know you are going to see it on every other denomination too.

Uh try asking the people who bought he Black Caviar coin on the secondary market and then they released it in a different form.  Or the people who bought the 2008 Roo at Sunset (supposedly 1000 minted) a few years back only to see another 2500 minted for a three coin set with some international coins (Icons of the Commonwealth I think it was called).

If the RAM sniff a dollar in the high relief thing they'll flog it to death.

Here are the scans of the holographic 2004 $1 coin.
I have bought 4 of these sets just to get this one good coin.
All the others have weird discoloration on the obverse, This one however is stunning.
The scans are taken through a saflip and the dust and marks are on the flip not the coin.

All the other coins in the set are equally as nice 
