Alan Kohler the business guru (who is unfortunately retiring this year) said that, since 1971 when the world uncoupled fiat currencies from the gold index, the Australian dollar has lost 93.9% of it's buying value. 14 currencies have lost 99.9% of their buying value.
He also went on to say if we are all losers then no one is.

That is pure economics. Also why the world needs poverty.
If we are all rich, no one is.
