Hi, I recently won this coin at auction and was wondering whether it would grade at PCGS and if so what grade do other people think it would get? There does seem to be a small planchet flaw on the obverse next to the letter F. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/267435222550

Are the dark marks near the star on the reverse, planchet flaws or just dark streaking of the planchet? Also, the reverse looks to be a bit wishy washy.

Hard to tell online. MS62BN?
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I\'ve forgotten the other two!

Hi ausproofs why do you think it would only grade MS60BN? I was thinking it would grade MS62BN or MS63BN.

Hi Spraggdean, Typically PCGS doesn't like the streak marks on coins based on what I understand and experienced.

Regardless you have a nice coin, good pick up.

Hi ausproofs yes I know that PCGS tend to downgrade coins with streak marks. The 1925 Penny from the Borg collection graded MS63RB and the coin itself has a lot of black streak marks on the reverse.

Hi Spragg!
From an old guy's perspective that photo shows a coin that would rate about 'EF', no more.
The coin has a lot of problems resulting from the poor tilted strike.
I'll leave the 'streaking' alone as it makes the coin look like it has metal flaking.
Back to the strike, the planchet was tilted and the strike pressure was very uneven from top to bottom.
The rim is poorly defined at the top and exaggerated at the bottom.
There is a large lack of definition of the king's hair and around the head.
The rim beads are poorly defined in the weak areas.
That disturbance around the star and rim looks like ding to me.
That's the problem when you have a beautiful looking coin, all the faults stand out!
Its just an EF to me, whatever that is in the American grading I don't know.
Too many detractors to rate EF+.

Cheers, Fred.

Yes,didn't want to post but it would not grade highly, cost of PCGS would be more than the coin is worth, sorry ,just MO.

Hey, I think the two replies after mine summed it up well. It's a nice coin, but I don't think it would grade too high with PCGS. AU58 or MS60 is more likely based on the photos. I hope I am wrong though!
