1931 half penny

Attached is photo of date on half penny.
Is it a normal one or a dropped one ?.
Is there a simple way to determine which ?.

Hi..looks like a average 31 Half,not worth much these days,no demand.
I have several Unc.,list on Ebay and lucky to get $5-10 but tide will turn as they are a low mintage coin.

The 31 'dropped 1' is a penny.

I collect pre decimal varieties thus the reason for my query as Renniks lists a 1931 half penny
dropped 1 and another in correct position.
Also there are many sellers listing dropped 1 .
One idiot is asking $880. Maybe they think listing as a dropped 1 will attract more buyers.

The reason for my query is because I collect pre decimal varieties and Renniks list a 1931 half penny as
Last 1 in date dropped and Last 1 in date in correct position.
There are a number of eBay sellers quoting dropped 1. I tend agree with you as a couple are quoting dropped and normal and I can't see any difference between the two.

I think all 1931 halfpennies have a slightly dropped 1.

Renniks have it as a variety,and scarce,but plenty of them around.

I remember back in the 1960's when there was a demand for the 1930/31 halves they were regarded as low mintage sleepers,but never happened.

Poor Pic. but the OP coin is not the dropped one variety AFAIK.

I have a review of the 1930/31 Halves mintage somewhere,it was in a 1960's/(70's?) Coin magazine.i'll try and find it.

Hm, I don't have a recent Renniks but I thought the last one I had had some iffy information.
