So a few changes over the years from the 99.99% blanks, to the current 99.9% standard.

RAM confirmed that they were sourcing blanks for their Investment Products within Australia a number of years ago - 99.99% suggests Perth Mint blanks.

ABC Bullion/Refinery note on their website that they are a supplier to RAM - their usual standard is 99.9%

When I recently received an order of investment grade bullion, it was showing as having shipped from "West Sydney", rather than Canberra as usual.

After asking RAM a number of questions, including whether they had outsourced the dies for production, they claimed that they were shipped from the RAM in Canberra and couldn't explain why the pickup was showing as "West Sydney".

Anyone else ordering Investment bullion products from RAM, and finding they are also shipping from "West Sydney" rather than Canberra?

I don't buy investment bullion from RAM. What sort of price do you pay vs maples and other recognised mints?

Oh, and just on the ABC Bullion side of things ... have you seen the new showroom/store in Martin Place, Sydney?

Very flash. And the location is A grade. Always full of people ... Asians sure like gold ;)
There\'s no such thing as too much Borobi!

Let's compare Perth Mint Kangaroos in the 1-24 1oz silver category, live prices currently at $42.91 direct, with ABC Bullion selling at $51.95.

RAM charges $10 delivery, with no credit card surcharges. Bullion 1oz silver Coat of Arms/Sydney Opera House or other issues, come in individually encapsulated towers of 10 (last order $44.95 per coin). Ordering 20 or more works out to less than 50 cents per coin delivery premium.

Perth Mint charges quite a bit more for delivery (last time around $50), so it's always better to buy in tube+ quantities, and has a surcharge for credit cards versus BPay.

I guess it comes down to convenience, but delivered premium over spot ends up being very similar between Perth and RAM, depending on quantity ordered.

Here it is from ABC Refinery Australia, "Testament to its quality and capacity, ABC Refinery is the preferred supplier of coin and tablet blanks for The Royal
Australian Mint and is also the supplier of gold sheet used for the production of the Melbourne Cup."

And from the RAM website, "Manufactured to the Royal Australian Mint's high standards with guaranteed precious metal contact, weight and quality, these ABC Bullion Gold Minted tablets are a great way to invest in precious metals. Available in 1oz, 10g, 5g, and 1g, the tablets feature the precious metal content and weight on one side. Available from ABC Bullion and ABC Bullion Australia."

Luckily Ainslie has a shopfront in the AMP building in Brisbane and you can get bullion a bit over spot prices. (I think that is the right building.) Of course you have to get there and pick them up but train fares off peak are cheaper than delivery and no insurance needed.

Interesting - I hadn't noticed that.
