Glad I don't need to worry about this rubbish. Thanks for the info though.

Correction: The information is on page 26  ;)

Steve, just the two coins that are intended to be in the change.
Don't need the ''tube ones'' although I am pretty certain some of them will be found in circulation.
Sometimes, one must make tough decisions regarding what to collect. This is one of these occasions.

Triggersmob

Yes, I was happy when i saw only 2 are actually circulation coins.

Thanks for the link to the stamp bulletin. Mine hasn't arrived in the post yet.
Some lovely stamps there, particularly liked the jellyfish and the Christmas Island caves.
Christmas Island is a great place to visit.  Very "Third World".

Triggersmob

If you go to visit Christmas Island though, just be aware that freight is very hit and miss, so your luggage may not arrive with you. Take your essentials in your hand luggage.

The manager at our local Westpac branch (some years ago when we still had a branch) spent a stint at the Christmas Island branch. He said watching the freight being unloaded was a popular entertainment, items being dropped in the water not uncommon. However he did say that the beer deliveries always arrived unscathed!
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Triggersmob

Yes, that would be the sea freight. Too rough and they just pass on by and go to Cocos Island.
If your lucky you might get your delivery on the way back.
I have quiet a few customers on both islands and have been sending freight there for many years.
Post and air freight is once a week. No guarantee you will get your freight though, as government
is prioritised. Your freight can be off loaded at any time.
Sea freight is only about once a month, so miss that boat and you can be waiting 2 months or more
for your goods.

I just browsed through this
https://www.independentcoinnews.com/?fbclid=IwAR0cXPYd7j0cErYhlVAc_WGqwO4tBjFdySuRgwz-vORk6-mNWlQ-lDwIP5w

and it states in an article about the coins (page 50 of the magazine, page 52 on the PDF I opened) that ''all coins will be given out in change from Australia Post outlets.''

Damn, I hope that isn't true.

jens coins

redlock that was an error in the independent coin news article.
Only 2 coins are available thru the till, the rest are in the tube or individual

Puh, dogded a bullet there and my wallet is happy, too. :)

There is heaps for sale up on eBay now 2 weeks before the release date.
I phoned Australia Post to put in a complaint as was told it couldn't be Australia Post employees as they have strict rules and protocols in place.
Well how is it that there's the new bags unopened that are only distributed thru Australia Post.
Could it be Armaguard employees as they distribute the coins to Australia Post?
Something is not right to be selling them so far out from release day.
